Sudan peace partners review implementation of peace deal
By James Gatdet Dak
February 15, 2009 (JUBA) – The main partners in the Sudan’s 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) review implementation of some outstanding issues in the peace deal.
The National Congress Party (NCP) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) on Sunday are expected to discuss enactment of laws to be compatible with the peace deal and its subsequent 2005 interim national constitution.
Some laws among which include security, press and media laws need to be enacted before the coming national elections this year.
The Government of Southern Sudan’s Vice President and Deputy Chairman of the SPLM, Riek Machar, left Juba for the national capital, Khartoum, on Sunday, to meet with the Vice President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, on issues of CPA implementation.
Machar is also expected to discuss with Taha the delay in the release of oil revenue share to the Government of Southern Sudan for the 2009 fiscal year budget which began in January.
Employees of the semi-autonomous government of Southern Sudan have not received salaries since January because the Khartoum-based Government of National Unity has not remitted the money.
The latest engagement on CPA implementation by the two parties comes amidst expectation of imminent issuance of arrest warrant against President Omer Hassan Al-Bashir by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

Sudan peace partners review implementation of peace deal
The two partners of the peace deal should discuss about bonder issues instead of enactment of new laws, since the peace was signed in the year 2005,the two partners of CPA are always disagreed about bonder demacation, the NCP folks are always after where there is oil like Bentiu and Abyei which they mistakenly thinks are part of the North.
The SPLM/A guys should be serious in dealing with NCP,otherwise the canny muslims brothers’government will take all the rich parts of the South and leave the poor parts to us,anyway a poor part of the country is where there is NO Natural resources and arid zones where there is no rain at all or semi desert.
