China provides made a gift of musical instruments to South Sudan
February 20, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – China made a gift of musical instruments last Monday to the government of southern Sudan.
The musical instruments, which amounted to 64 pieces, including violoncellos, violins, trombones and others, could be used to establish an orchestra of medium size.
The ceremony of instrument handover was attended by federal minister of culture, Youth and Sports Mohamed Yusif Abdella, GOSS minister of culture, Albino Akur and the Chinese ambassador to Sudan, Li Chengwen at the Chinese embassy in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
Minister Mohamed Yusif hailed the Chinese efforts in the economic development of the country and its great attention to the educational and cultural issues in Sudan. Akur also praised the continuous Chinese support in various fields for the process of reconstruction and development in south Sudan
Ambassador Li, from his part reiterated the support of his country to the 2005 peace agreement that ended two decades of war adding that Beijing would continue to help implement the CPA.
Sudan is cerebrating nowadays the 50th anniversary of establishing their diplomatic ties, which was on Feb. 4, 1959.
