Earlier this month the Russian Air Force announced that it would replace the personnel of peacekeeping unit helicopter group working in Sudan between February 25 and March 4.

The plane will also deliver equipment for RAG,” Drik added.
The first unit of 80 servicemen was dispatched on February 25, 2009.
The group numbers about 120 crewmembers and technical personnel and is equipped with four Mil Mi-8 helicopters modified to meet UN standards. It transports UN military observers, carries or accompanies freight, and takes part in search and rescue operations.
The contingent undertook training in joint combat action at a military training base in Torzhok, Russia, followed by flight training before to travel to Sudan.
The Russian Aviation Group is part of the UNMIS since April 2006.
