Sudan diplomat dismisses court ruling
March 4, 2009 (WASHINGTON) – Sudan’s ambassador to the United States rejected the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and claimed that the move made today to kick out certain aid groups from Darfur was only temporary.
“The ICC has become a political institution not a legal one,” said a statement made by Ambassador Akec Khoc Acieu, who is a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.
“Human rights violations do not only occur in Africa. But it has been observed that the ICC is targeting and concentrating on Africa for rendering justice and therefore it is not just because it is targeting Africa only,” he said at the National Press Club.
“It is likely to prolong suffering in Darfur, not to bring about peace.”
However, when asked whether Al-Bashir is guilty of war crimes or not, Acieu declined to comment.
Referring to aid groups today reported to be expelled from Darfur, Acieu said that actually they have not been expelled but have just been advised to temporarily evacuate settled areas where the government may not be able to provide them with security.
The ambassador said that the information he had from Khartoum was that the policy on the aid groups was a temporary measure.

Mr. Acieu
Not even a single Sudanese is happy with the ongoing killings in Darfur. We are not deserved to die but we are deserved to survive like other human beings on earth. Furs are the right citizens of Sudan and they deserve to exercise their freedom, a freedom God gives them in Darfur region. Bashir’s government must not and would never appreciate those who stand behind him, even if the ICC will counsel its decision against him today. Remember that the Sudanese have done all they can to protect Bashir’s life since he had taken over the leadership through bloody coup in 1989. Bashir does not value somebody else idea because he has been terrifying Sudanese people for so long, thus nobody even if politicians are under his shoes. Bashir would have been characterized by 21 years of civil war which had destroyed a single prosperity in Sudan. Although Bashir’s government pays you trillion Sudanese pounds, you can not forget or turn-down the reality in Sudan and stand behind his government like your God father. I believe you understand how important this country would come to exist. Sudan is the land of Black Africans if we were not stupid to write our own language, the immigrant Arabs would not become the right people in Sudan. So let us not disappoint the world of not looking into reality. We have lost most important leaders who claimed justice and equality in Sudan. There will be a time in which the right citizens of Sudan take over the leaderships, and in that period of time ,peace and prosperity will rain on each and every single Sudanese including Arab Sudanese to exercise God’s gift freedom. I believe the Sudanese including Arab Sudanese are sick of Bashir’s brutal leadership. If you fear of violence, it is already existed as you might have heard the conflict in Malakal created by your God father, Bashir. We will never surround to the dictator, killer, war monger, scavenger leader who does value his people’ lives.
