A Statement from JEM
JEM welcomes ICC Issuance of Arrest Warrant against Al-Bashir and renews its commitment and full cooperation with the Court. The historic ICC ruling is a vindication of JEM’s stance in the current crisis and a win for Darfur people, Sudan and humanity at large. JEM congratulates the ICC and in particular the ICC Chief Prosecutor Ocampo for their successful and professional investigation of Darfur atrocities and for heralding a new world determined to relegate genocides and crimes against humanity to the dustbin of history.
Noting positive but equally sensitive dynamics introduced by the ICC decision, JEM would like to state the following:
– JEM affirms its commitment to the Doha Peace Process and assures its determination to continue its work for a lasting and dignified peace agreement.
– JEM affirms its commitment to work with others to protect the CPA and speed up its implementation.
– JEM appeals to all Sudanese people to turn this historic moment into an opportunity for a swift move towards genuine democracy, peace, prosperity and unity of the country.
– JEM will not hesitate to mobilize its forces against any threat to IDPs, Refugees and innocent families and individuals.
– Finally, JEM will use every possible means to collaborate with UNAMID forces, guarantee their safety and ensure that they accomplish their mandate successfully.
