Postponement of Tunis summit “shock” to Arab nation : Sudan

KHARTOUM, March 29, 2004 (SUNA) — The minister of foreign affairs, Dr Mustafa Uthman Isma’il, has described the decision of postponement of the Arab Summit meeting, which was due to be convened in Tunisia, as a shock to the Arab nation. He pointed out that the postponement of the summit would frustrate the Arab people.

In a statement to Suna at Khartoum Airport Sunday night, Dr Isma’il said the postponement of the summit would have grave reflections on the official Arab situation and means an unjustifiable absence to the official institution that leads the joint Arab work.

He said that the Sudanese delegation had exerted great efforts to reconcile the various views and initiatives to reach the minimum level required for the success of the summit. The minister stressed the importance of realizing Arab solidarity, calling on the Arab countries to be aware of the plots targeting them.
