Sudan considers expelling French ambassador: official

March 16, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudanese government reacted angrily to remarks by French official yesterday voicing support to any operation aimed at arresting embattled president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

Yesterday Eric Chevallier, spokesman of the French foreign ministry suggested that his government is prepared to assist in efforts to apprehend Bashir who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on seven counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, which include murder, rape and torture.

“France as many other countries are members of the Rome Statute. There are clear obligations on executing arrest warrant for Bashir” Chevallier told the Saudi owned Al-Sharq Al-Awsat in an interview.

The French official said that the majority of the European Union (EU) countries “are pushing towards having ICC members and non-members to assist the court in executing the arrest warrant for Sudanese president especially if he flies to Qatar”.

Sudan announced that Bashir will attend the Arab summit to be held later this month in the Arab Gulf state of Qatar.

The Sudanese foreign ministry spokesperson Ali Al-Sadiq told reporters that Khartoum takes Chevallier statements “seriously”.

“Hijacking planes is against laws and a crime…Any country engaging in such behavior will be in violation of international law and a threat that will negatively impact relations between states” Al-Sadiq said.

“France has always been in the camp of states hostile to Sudan and a supporter to US sabotage policies so this position does not come as a surprise to us” he added.

Al-Sadiq also said that Sudan and Qatar are in close contact over security arrangements related to Bashir’s trip to Doha.

A senior Sudanese presidential official told the London based Dar Al-Hayat newspaper said that Khartoum is contemplating declaring French envoy Patrick Nicoloso ‘persona non-grata’ over Chevallier’s comments.

France has became a frequent target of criticism by Sudanese officials including Bashir particularly after failing to convince Paris to support a suspension of charges made by the ICC.

Relations between the two countries have also been troubled over the presence of Abdel-Wahid Al-Nur chairman of Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) in Paris despite demands by Khartoum that he be expelled.

In Saudi Arabia the Sudanese presidential adviser Mustafa Ismail blasted France saying that the latter “excels in lying and deception and does not respect international norms”.

Ismail said that France has released the members of the aid groups who kidnapped the Chadian children in 2007 after Ndjamena handed them over to complete their sentence there.

Recently the Sudanese Media Center (SMC) website with close links to intelligence services accused France and Chad of supplying weapons to Darfur Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).

Sudan and Chad trade accusations of supporting respective rebel movements since 2005. Libya Saudi Arabia and Senegal brokered three non-aggression pacts between the two neighboring countries which has done little to stem tensions between the two neighbors.

France has consistently urged Sudan to work on mending relations with its former colony.

What you peopl are doing is not clear to the world.
Because who have not heard that Bashir is criminal has it is already anounced on 4th of this month that he must not across international boundaries. Is Qatar Sudan or another continent????????
Do you presume that ICC is joking with the right of those innocents killed??????? How do you think it will be???????
If you are ready to defend him by air or land you are still committing more atrocities that you will regret the final responses.
My promise to you is, do not take Bashir`s problems to Qatar. Let him stop not to go that is better if you do not need war in Qatar now unless you plan it as a starting point for ICC and Bashir`s war. Go ahead French world is behind you. If he is ready to die in air, that also perfect. NO ASCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that Sarkouzi of France is trying very hard to replace Tony Blair in the White House Secretariat during Bush’s era but Obama seems to be not interested. Great France the fortress of democracy has been changed into democracy brawler or a hunting dog by Sarkouzi intimidating other nations if they act different to the (NWO) the New World Order which already has gone with Bush.

France under Sarkouzi unbelievably has tossed back all that honorable history and gone to support Air Piracy and the International Terrorism offers to hijack any airplane or ship carrying presidents or diplomats to attend summits or meetings abroad enjoing full diplomatic immunity. Where were Degol, Chirac and before Martin Luther King all to see how France demoted in rank to a security a guard to watch the door.

    Jeff and Eric!!!

I want to ask one question! what was the last time did Frenchs and Brits fight the war!! don’t decieve yourselves into thinking that you can easily re-colonize Africans or Latin America simply because you did that in the past!! learn from the Israeli war with lebanese last year, the war which Israel were fighting hopping to win it within week or two!! but what happened chokked you badly and made you realize that the world of 2007 is not and will never be the same with the world of 18 century or 1960s or 70s, when Westerners Evill used to win wars for whatever reason PERHAP CHEATING!!

Please don’t try African, because we are still holding you accountable for the mess in our continent, beside, you are still hostages of alcohol, drug and prostitution, how you dare to create another problem such as war with African!! why don’t you first get rid of your addiction to alcohol and drug before you bark of fighting us!! I can not wait the time when Africans will refuse to repay your debt untill you directly apologize to us for the slavery and colonisation!! I will lead that war I promise my heady fellows!!

As a British who understands French politics, i would advise Sudan to kick out the French ambassador now instead of later, the early they recognise the tricks France is playing on Sudan behind the scenes the early the Sudanese will have advantage of the situation. But Britain wants Omar bashir to stand full trails in the ICC and we want Iran not to produce more nuclear weapons, we have intelligence which shows they might already have some nuclear device. As long as they bomb only Israelis or the stinky French then Britain does not mind, but do not touch Great Britain and the British empire.
