Buay’s response to SSDF Front chairman
March 19, 2009 — In response to plots orchestrated against me in Khartoum by individuals indicted by the ICC, I am appealing to all the people of the South in particular and the marginalized Sudanese in general to unite behind President Salva Kiir Mayardit. At this critical juncture, we are morally, politically and socially required to stand behind our President to deal with the post-ICC Sudanese politics. I acknowledge that there are people who may not like my call; however, I am appealing to their consciences to give unity a chance at this time. There are times when people suspend their criticisms for the sake of national survival. Whatever concern or grievances you may have, it is time for the national interest of the South to override your grievances. When United States was attacked on September, 11, 2001, all Americans from different walks of life united behind former President George Bush. The Democrats suspended their ideological differences with the Republicans and supported their President to defend the United States. I think the time has come for the people of the South to emulate the Americans in 2001.
I have no doubt that under the military guidance of 1st Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and the 2nd Lt. Gen. Paulino Matip Nhial and the Chief-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Oyai Deng Ajak, the SPLA army will protect the CPA and safeguard the interests of the people of the South, Abyei, Nuba Mountains, and Southern Blue Nile. With the military leadership of these capable leaders, the people of the South should sleep without worries knowing that Salva Kiir and Paulino Matip will protect them at night. They are our night watchmen that we should support and encourage to continue protecting us.
Let’s all accept that Salva Kiir and the GoSS are the only entities that will take us to the Promised Land. All the Southern political parties had, in no uncertain terms, accepted to unite behind President Salva Kiir in November, 2008 South–South Dialogue that was concluded in Juba. Therefore, the people of the South must follow their leaders and support President Salva Kiir Mayardit at this critical juncture without reservations. Let’s refrain from promoting negative feelings which would disunite our people. Let’s unite and protect the CPA.
LONG LIVE SOUTH SUDAN!!
LONG LIVE THE GOSS!
Thanks,
Cde Gordon Buay
