JEM Welcomes New US Special Envoy to Sudan
JEM receives with tremendous satisfaction appointment of retired Air Force General J. Scott Gration as the US Special Envoy for Sudan. Competence of General Gration needs no endorsement from anybody. He is twice decorated for his courage and achievements, fluent in Swahili, the great African language and with tremendous knowledge about the continent of Africa and its politics. JEM stands ready to engage General Gration and work out ways of bringing Darfur crisis to a speedy end.
JEM takes this opportunity to congratulate US President Obama for making Darfur a priority, for apt appointment of General Gration and for showing global leadership. JEM is ready to engage the government of United States and work together for democracy, justice and equality in Darfur, Sudan and the region.
Finally, Darfur IDPs and refugees, and who followed the historic US election results throughout the night, put great hope on the new US Special Envoy for Sudan. They look forward to receive him in their camps and show him the suffering caused by Al-Bashir’s callous eviction of international NGOs from Darfur.
