Rumbek outfitted to initiate Sudan schools’ examination

March 27, 2009 (RUMBEK) – The Sudan School Certificate examination
will begin immediately on Monday and last up until April 14, 2009 at
Rumbek Senior Secondary School’s premises.

National examinations are being held across Sudan. This is now only
the second time Rumbek held the Sudan School Certificate examination
in Lakes state since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement
in 2005.

Last year Pankar Senior Secondary School quit the examination
objecting that the local children are taught from East African
curricula which are markedly different from the Sudanese curricula
designed in Khartoum.

Speaking over local radio station in Rumbek, James Magok Ater, the
education director for Lakes state affirmed that examinations this
year are going to be observed by different organs of the security
sector comprised with police.

Meanwhile, there are already 18 people prearranged as observers to
watch the examinations.

According to the timetable provided by the Ministry of General
Education of the Republic of the Sudan the exam will begin Monday at
9:00 a.m. with English Language for three hours.

Tuesday will be Chemistry, History and Financial accounts commerce.
Wednesday will be Military science, Engineer Drawing, Corporations and
Hotel Management for women and Drawing and Coloring for women.
Thursday will be Engineering Science, Family Science and Mechanical
Drawing.

Sunday will be Islamic religion, Islamic special and Christian
religion. The second Monday of the testing period will be Physics,
Islamic studies and Economic and Commercial studies. Tuesday will be
Agricultural Production and Animal Production and Agriculture
technical design for women. The second Wednesday will be Biology,
Commercial Science, Costing and Taxation, and Real Manufacturing
Industry.

The second Thursday of the testing period will be Geography and
Environmental Studies and Food Industry. Sunday will be Arabic
language and Special Arabic. The third Monday will be Computer
science, Advanced Arabic language, Financial Mathematics,
Horticulture, Arts and History for women and finally on Tuesday will
be Additional Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics.

Rumbek senior secondary school has 280 students while Mapuordit
secondary school has 140 and Pankar secondary school has 30 students
which brings the total to 450 students across Lakes state senior
secondary schools.

    Good to hear first examination in Lake State. Southern Sudan government should not allow religion to be taught in primary and Secondary. It need to be left out for individual to choose his or her major in University. We don’t need radical thinking in the lower level.
