Minnawi to hold meeting of Darfur authority
March 28, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — Minni Minnawi, the Senior Presidential Assistant and the head of the Transitional Authority travelled to the capital of North Darfur state, Al-Fasher to assess the performance of the regional authority.
Minnawi arrived on Saturday to Al-Fasher where he was received by the state governor Osman Yousef Kibr and a number of state officials.
The Senior Presidential Assistant will convene in the coming days a meeting of Darfur authority to assess its performance and discuss ways to implement development and reconstruction projects.
The meeting also is expected to tackle the enforcement of security arrangements particularly the government intends to encourage the internally displaced to return to their homeland.
Early this week the former head of Darfur Reconstruction and Development Fund, Abdel Jabbar Dosa resigned from the authority and accused the National Congress Party (NCP) of abstracting Minnawi for Darfur file.
Further he said that Khartoum impede the implementation of Darfur Reconstruction and Development Fund (DRDF) strategic plan and projects through refraining from transferring the agreed 700 million US Dollars.
Dosa also accused the NCP of attempting to overcome the six phases of the security arrangements and impose a jump to integration of the ex-Combatants in the Army.
