UNMIS donates books to devastated Malakal University

April 4, 2009 (BOR TOWN) – Indian troops to the United Nations Mission In Sudan (UNMIS) donated text books to the Upper Nile University, Malakal on March 28 as a token of remembrance of their association, a press statement represented to the Sudan Tribune here today says.
The 2 Naga Infantry Battalion Group (INDBATT) assistant comes at a wake of Malakal from fierce clashes which left the University in a devastated state.
“This gesture of 2 NAGA Indian Battalion Group assumes greater significance in light of the recent Malakal Clashes in which the city witnessed extreme violence & the University itself suffered considerable losses,” the statement reads in part.
APTLY IN THE SCENARIO
Col Sameer Bhadauria, Sector Commander Sector III (Malakal) of the INDBATT, presented the text books to the faculty of Basic Sciences, Veterinary Sciences and Animal Production. Dr. Akoy Dual Akoy, the acting vice chancellor represented the University at the handover ceremony.
Gandhian Studies (philosophy of Father of Indian Nation covering issues on the importance of truth, Non- Violence & National Capacity Building) were also donated which are aptly relevant and applicable in the present day scenario of Republic of Sudan.
