Ongoing reshuffling in Jonglei State and Khorfulus County

April 3, 2009 – There are news of changing the Government day and night in Government of Jonglei State.

As we all know no reshuffling took place in our government of Jonglei since 2005 until now except reshuffling of only one Minister that was the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement.

But, what is strange and funny is what is happening in our County Khorfulus. Because when the agreement was signed between the two communities of Khorfulus and Atar on date 21/12/2008 even though the agreement has stabilized the situation, our government did not consider the agreement because H.E the Minister Gier Chuang did not attend the peace talks.

Moreover the Jonglei State Ministers of Education and Agriculture who were voted out last year September, 2008 by State Assembly because of corruption are still occupying their offices.

After few days from signing of the agreement by the two communities, a certain group emerged with a new peace initiative calling themselves “Church Committee” led by Pastor Michael Kat Mading backed by Gier Chuang with the purpose of destroying the achievement made.

The committee went to the President of GoSS 1st Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir, they also met with Governr of Jonglei State Lt. Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk in Juba and Bor Town.

As members of Khorfulus Constituency we knew nothing about what was going on in all the meetings neither in Juba nor in Bor town. But we were expecting peace as an objective of a church committee.

Unfortunately, the very funny and strange thing is that the members of the Church Committee lost their vision and turned to be candidates. They are now to take the seat of the Commissioner without recommendation from the community. I am surprised!
