African peace and security body briefed on Darfur situations

April 6, 2009 (ADDIS ABABA) – The African Union Peace and Security Commission (AUPSC) had been briefed today on the impact of the arrest warrant against the Sudanese President on the peacekeeping operation in Darfur as well as the ongoing efforts to reach peace there.

On March 4, the International Criminal Court (ICC) decided to issue an arrest warrant for President Omer Al-Bashir on crimes against humanity and war crimes. Sudan in a retaliatory measure ordered out 13 foreign NGO.

The rebel Justice and Equality Movement which had agreed to engage peace talks with Khartoum suspended the Doha process saying the expulsion of the aid groups breaches a goodwill agreement it inked with the government three weeks before.

Also, one peacekeeper was killed and some other injured during different attacks on UNAMID members, also some vehicles of the mission were carjacked. Aid workers in the region also suffered some attacks and abductions since the arrest warrant.

Rodolphe Adada the AU-UN Joint Special Representative briefed the AUPSC on the impact of the arrest warrant issued at the beginning of last month by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir.

Adada also briefed the Commission on the current military strength of UNAMID, which stands at more than 12,000 of the 19,555 force authorized by the Security Council over one year ago.

The AU-UN Joint Chief Mediator, Djibril Bassolé, for his part briefed the AU panel on the recent developments after the arrest warrant. The suspension of JEM participation in the peace process would lead the mediation to exert more efforts to bring the rebels to the negotiating table.

UN experts estimated 300,000 people have been killed and another 2.7 million have been forced from their homes since fighting erupted in 2003, pitting rebels against Government forces and allied Janjaweed militiamen.

I am tired of this stupid and Idiotic regional orgazation of AU apartly occupied by terorist and dicators leaders like Mummar Qadaafi. killing of innocents black africans civilians in Darfur suppose to be the top priority if, the organization aims was to maintain peace, security and unity among Africans people.

I don’t see any any reason why should AU defends/side with criminal Arabs (al-Bashir)whose regime’s objectives to get rid of entire black African peoples in their own land.
what is AL-Bashir???????????? his he only one allow to practice genocide, crime agaist humanity in AU doctrines?

I am so sorry of mentally enslaved organization like AU, standing as an emblem of begging money from western societies, in which 99% of funds goes to individuals pockets and 1% remains in hotels in Addis Ababa. while the entire nation is suffering food shortages, education, war, inadequete health facilities and man made disasters like, Darfuris women and children suffering in camps.

For sure, your weakness thinkings and relay on western funds and waiting for solution to your problems is another chance and opening of new colonization door for western powers in Africa.

Enjoy drinking your BEER in an europen whether of Addis Ababa but, by all means, your CRIMINAL AL-BASHIR is going to Hague.
    NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
