Darfur students denounce new wave of arbitrary arrests

Statement from United People’s Front (UPF) on the Arrest of its Members in universities

Freedom – Justice – Peace – Democracy.

Khartoum genocide regime thought that it has done enough diplomacy after the issuance of warrant of arrest against Al-Bashir and now is much ready to continue its crimes against the innocent people of Darfur. However; it’s not so long since the visit of American Envoy Scott Gration to Sudan that the Islamic regime in Khartoum got wrong signals and then started a country-wide hunt for defenseless UPF students in universities and residential areas. Such wide arrests against the cadres of United People’s Front is for nothing except for the ardent support of the UPF for the vision of Sudan Liberation Movement /Army to establish Secular, Liberal, democratic and United Sudan that is led by the Founder and Chairperson of Sudan Liberation Movement/ Army Abdel Wahid Mohammed Nur.

Up to date of the writing of this statement the Islamic fundamentalist regime has arrested many UPF cadres from different Sudanese universities across the country where their destinies are unknown. The following are the names of the reported arrested students:

– Abdel Majeed Sidiq Mohamed, student at Alfashir University/ Faculty of Arts/English Department.
– Suliman Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Human Rights Activist and student at Alfashir University Faculty of Arts Standard Four.
– Hawa Abdalla Mohamed Salieh, Alfashir University/ Faculty of Medicine/ Standard Four.
– Ishag Adam Haroun, Alfashir High Secondary School.
– Abdalla Adam Yagoub, graduate of Alfashir University.
– Nimeri Khamis Taha, an employee at Alfashir University.
– Mustafa Shareef Mohamed Abdel Maula, Khartoum University/ Faculty of Arts.
– Hamid Mohamed Hamid, Student at Khartoum University/ Faculty of Arts.
– Abdel Salam Shareef, graduate of Bakht Alrudda University eye witness said he was shot on his back and was bleeding when arrested, fate unknown.
– Mohamed Adam Adam Ali, student at Umdurman Islamic University, Faculty of Sharia and law.
– Taha Mohamed Zakaria, Sudan University/ Faculty of Engineering.
– Ahmed Abdel Aziz Adam, Umdurman Al- Ahlia University.
– Abdel Munim Abdel Maula Eisa /Khartoum University/Faculty of Science.

The United Peoples’ Front would like to confirm to the entire world that the arrests of the innocent people and expulsion of the NGOs are regime mechanisms to continue the genocide against the innocent civilians. The students targeted by Sudan Security apparatus are sons and daughters of those killed, raped and displaced by Islamic genocidal regime in Khartoum. Hence; we appeal all peace loving nations to put pressure on the regime in Khartoum to stop the killings, immediately release the detainees, and not to allow the Darfur genocide to go unpunished when it comes to sustaining the quest for peace in Sudan.

However; we would like to remind the barbaric regime in Khartoum that the clear Secular, Liberal Democratic United Sudan vision of Sudan Liberation Movement/ Army (SLM/A) has already reached every village, town and every corner in Sudan where the entire Sudanese masses in this crucial time are hungry for it. Therefore; the intimidations, harassments and persecution of democracy through imprisonment will breed counter resistance, and stiffen the struggle for the rights of our people.

United Peoples’ Front.
