Reports against Eritrea based on what?

By Ibrahim A. Ibrahim

April 20, 2009 — Eritrea gained its independence thanks to the independent work done by its own citizens, without any foreign assistance. This prelude made Eritrea to be the most independent country in the region.

Eritrea’s independence came to exist without the will and consent of the countries that want to advance their national interest at the price of innocent citizens of this great nation Eritrea. In fact Eritrea outsmarted the so called nations of influence in shaping world map and politics. This majestic act of bravery, carefully crafted longsighted plan to end Eritrea’s occupation by Ethiopia and its supporters be it west or east block. Tireless political maneuver and arm twisting has been made to prolong the procedure of referendum that stamped Eritrean independence. If it was not the independent back ground of the struggle things would have changed otherwise.

The referendum took place after long lasting war that cost more than 65 thousands lives, wining at the time the most powerful military in Africa. Those who forced to accept Eritrea’s independence are still working tirelessly to create havoc and chaos.

Recently Human Rights Watch under the guide of those who oppose the independence of Eritrea released a report under the title “Eritrea was fast becoming a giant prison,” and was quick to be posted and reported in many western media those who claim to report accurate and impartial reports without even taken time to verify its source and authenticity of the report. This is none but follow up of the campaign that is forwarded against Eritrea.

Human Rights Watch has been very bias on its report to wards Eritrea. The report in its totality as is stated in the report is based on oral interviews only of those who left the country due to many reasons. There exists inconsistence of collecting Human Right Watch’s report. The report does not carry any substantial verification so to mention. These make the report null and void especially by those who view the content scientifically and analytically.

The campaign against Eritrea is not expected to stop right here with the report from Human Rights Watch or groups and organizations that did not know the true history of Eritrea and its citizens. It may continue to ridicule the hard won independence as long as Eritrea holds feast to its value of self-reliance.

Here the writer would like to ask Human Rights Watch, have they ever wrote about inhuman acts of Ethiopian occupiers against the peace loving innocent citizens of Eritrea, during the occupation period, and even after Eritrea’s independence when the minority regime in Ethiopia forcefully deported citizens of Eritrea and Ethiopians of Eritrean ancestry? Documented tangible proofs are available if the same organization would like to utilize.
