Dissidents intimidated in South Sudan arrest incident

By Isaac Vuni

April 22, 2009 (JUBA) – Four men including two religious figures were arrested and detained for 24 hours in South Sudan for allegedly campaigning for a party opposed to the ruling party of the semi-autonomous region.

Alfred Jada of South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) of Lokiliri payam, Moga Benjamin Mark, Fr. Thomas Lado from the Catholic Church and Deacon Elias Gowan were arrested and detained on orders of the Commissioner of Lainya County, which is in Central Equatoria.

The local official alleged that they were campaigning for SSDF under cover of conveying Easter messages to Christians. Similar threats were reportedly made in Lokiliri and Opari areas.

Quoting from the 2005 interim constitution of southern Sudan that recognized and guaranteed every person free rights to join any political party, association, trade or professional union of his or her interest, the leader of the SSDF, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, remarked that this provision was totally violated.

Lomuro further reiterated that SSDF believed in implementation of the CPA in letter and spirit, and hence had copied a petition to General Salva Kiir, chairman of SPLM, Dr. Riek Machar and James Wani Igga, as well as other senior SPLM leaders, state and local officials.

So far candidates who expressed interest for the governorship of Central Equatoria state are: Elikaya Aligo Samson, Alfred Taban Logune, Manasseh Lomule Waya, and Alfred Lado Gore. They are challengers to Governor Clement Konga who is highly respected among his community.

What I know about SSDF is that, it is South Sudan Defense force, not democratic fornt,no. That was a militia forces that fought against SPLM/A. They try to trick Southern Sudan people. It was a force formed by Bashier and Trubi. But it was backed by Trubi. There was a time when trubi said that he want to add his party to Southern Sudanese parties. This party is Trubi was talking about. So, Southern Sudanese must stay away from this party if they want freedom. But if they do not want freedom, they can keep going with that party.

    No smoke without fire.
Human is born to live freely and happily. Any wrong leader who miscomprehend the meaning of his/her rule by using it against God people shall always end up as it happened to many dictators. It is well known through French revolution and many others.

In Sudan, the war emerged not because the rulers are Arabs or Muslims. No, thousand times no. Any leader who favor people right, freedom, prosperty, equality and security is welcome to rule no matter if she/he is Christian, Muslim, Budha or Animist and that why we have Barak Obama.

Dinka brothers, do not cheat yourself becuase you are Dinka that why people are allegiance to the call of SPLM/A. You called yourself libertors which is imagination and liar.

All Sudanese people had morally denied their lives to bring an end to sectarism, despotism, tribalism, corruption, nepotism and injustice, so anyone who speak that language was comrade or firend to those who share the same feeling. For such common goals, SPLM/A was composed up from Western, Eastern, Southern and Northern Sudanese.
Today, SPLM/A is committing national treason against the movement objectives. By doing so, there will be no more SPLM/A in near future. Every brutal step taken by SPLM/A against CPA will lead to second war against SPLM/A this time.We wrote and still have to write calling for correction before it is too late, but voiceses go to air without listeners. Let SPLM/A and GOSS use tribe against tribe, let them silence people from expressing their opinion, let them eat as much as they can, let them dislocate other tribe from their land and bring Dinka over their grand dead fathers and mothers and finally let them dominate the administration. Basher is using the same tactics in Darfur through Arab tribe. But the voices and the friendly countries that brought SPLM/A into offices will in the same way remove you from those offices.
