Jonglei ministry receives computers from CFH

By Philip Thon Aleu

April 29, 2009 (BOR TOWN) – Jonglei State ministry of land and physical infrastructure received a variety of accessories from Cooperative Housing Foundation or CHF International on Wednesday including four laptops.

State Minister for land and physical infrastructure Eng. John Amuor Kuol says CHF International is “an able NGO [Non Governmental Organization] that can be trusted” for many pledges “did not come” as promised by other organizations.

4 laptops, reflectors, short range radios and other items were Wednesday morning handed-over by CHF International Field Manager John Mac Acuek to Billy Peter Wal, the ministry’s Director of survey.

The 20 minutes ceremony at the ministry headquarters in Bor town was presided over by State Minister John Amuor Kuol. French Total funded the project and the oil company officials were also attended.

CHF International, whose mission is to be a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low- and moderate-income communities around the world, helping them to improve their social, economic and environmental conditions, has being operating in Southern Sudan since 2004. The U.S founded organization is also involved in the construction of Bor Secondary school here and hence gaining applauds from local communities.

John Mac the field Manager says “CHF is successful because it brings together the people, organizations and resources necessary to ensure steady, sustainable change” as stipulated in the “about us” part of the CHF.

Our programs ensure that individuals, families and communities, he said, begin to participate in the decisions that impact their lives, learn to work together to solve their own problems.

Jonglei State Ministry of land and physical infrastructures is entrusted with distributing plots in the capital Bor Town. The assistance will ease the survey work and communication in the ministry.

“This is wonderful,” a staff at Jonglei Ministry of Land said adding “having computers in our office could ease our survey works.”

“I thinks you are an able NGO that can be trusted that you will bring something,” John Amuor said adding “we don’t need so many things. We have failed with [other NGOs]….which promised hundreds of things…which did not come.”

Mr. Amuor congratulated the donor [Total Oil Company] for understanding “what the people want and now we have something to work.”

CHF is also renovating operating center at Bor Civil hospital, Mr. Acuek said. State Ministries of Education and Health will also receive the same items to facilitate their work, Mr. Acuek added.

Of course the government officials in South Sudan do not want to modernise the system there because they want to do everything in darkness. All we hope for is that the new generation will wake up as they did in fighting for the freedom of their homeland to stop these old corrupt dogs destroying and selling the remains of South Sudan to Bashir to obtain political favour and money. Please wake up!
