May 19, 2009 (BOR) – Over 700 youths attended an hour test on Tuesday in Jonglei capital Bor as a gateway to join police forces.
Police officials inspecting the exercise done at Dr. John Garang Institute of Science and Technology Tuesday morning says the modality – to organize test for police recruits, is to avoid suspicious in the process.
Job seekers, three-quarters youths, in Southern Sudan say employment has been based on ‘whom you’ than ‘who knows what.’ And now the-would-be police officers have a room for each to choose his or her destiny – fail to get job or otherwise in a fairer manner.
With limited jobs created by government pushed school leavers to opt for the police services as well as the need to serve the society.
“Jobs are very difficult outside there and I thought it’s wise to take any available opportunity,” one gentleman preferring anonymity said.
“I wanted to help to filter the children loitering on the street here as part of my contribution to Southern Sudan,” a young man identified as Nhial said. Mr. Nhial was referring to children making money as motorcyclist and minibus commentators in Bor town.
Efforts made by police and State authorities to reduce under-aged children’s involvement in business rather than schools, is virtually not materializing here.
Peter Kuir Thon, a State police officer supervised the test today where policemen deployed heavily to avoid examination malpractices. David Malual Wuor, an official from Dr. John Garang Institute of Sciemce and Technology set the examinations in English. Arabic learned had their quiz translated. About 500 positions will be filled with the new comrades at the end of the exercise not limited to this test. Months of trainings will follow thereafter.
Jonglei State is struggling to restore order after tribal conflicts locally disturbed a hard won peace in the Sudan – the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). Having stable and competitive police forces to enforce law and order in Jonglei, authorities say, would avert the circumstances.
The current laws enforcement agencies are composed of elderly people over-powered by armed civilians who are believed to be stronger then the police. Community chiefs signed inter-tribal peace agreement last week as part of a campaign to end tensions in Southern Sudan largest State of Jonglei.

Thanks alots for test organisors,it is good that the state needs well trained and qualified police units to protect our Venerable people from (criminals) looters,raiders children abductist and any form of gangster activities present in the soil.
Iam appealing to the state government to isolate budget for qualifiers after this thorough screening test, so that they would be kepable to look after our public properly
No delay of salaries payment like that of soldiers in military wing.
Employ qualified accountant cashers in police units, who will be assisted by modern technology of computerising system to represent police datas but there will be no “many hands Purification of money”
Remove tools of corruption and employ realistic and smart personnel who will care about our people but not to care about money.
finally the state authority should also evaluate police top leaders to ensure that these Recurred units will not be cheated by activities managers.
Remember police is the “executive backborn of the country”

I know they are 100% Bor who tries to be Bor police to create wider room for corruption and other malpractice in state, but who cares, you can recruite 70,000 instead of 700 and we will still break their ugly heads one by one.
We know our police were taken from previous army forces either from SPLA/M or soldier who came from within, now is this recruitement going around to every community or the thing is designed tribalsitically to serve greedy Bor interest?
I cann’t just understand this kind of divided government, now all of us than will begin to recruite our members and that will happen either directly or indirectly. WATCH!!!!!
Other communities need to open their ears sharp.

This is good news, if we need security we need to do it our selves, this boys are to be trained and tought the rules of Law given all the valuble equipment they need including police cars, to help them enforce law in the community. This other community who are hating, should think like wise in their community especially equatoria, the youth in the so called capital city are crazy! killing, looting, rape and all sorts of insecurity in Juba, not mensioning wars braking out in the city outskirts, almost involving the speaker of SSLA in the crossfire. I think every STATE in south sudan should recruit youth from so called niggaz, to hunters, cattle keepers, villagers, bushmen ect. as long as u have nothing to do in ur community join the “Police”

To me, whether you agree or not. More police in that jungle area of dinkas means more corruption. Tomorrow you will see that every family has a police office which is all about stealing the public fund. Does the word development means having more police to yourselves? Ok if so, who is going to accept themselves to be ruled by another person if they have a title.

As long as it is the same tribe of dinka which they are trying to integrate into the police force it will have no change since this is a group of looters,thieves and thugs who can’t change at any time sooner.
I know jonglei is a lost and failing state and it will never never develop as far as the civilization takes effects.
I am saying this because dinkas will never come to their normal senses to recognize the evils they are bringing to their own society.

I don’t think those people are there for really sense of getting test to be police man or Woman in the jonglie State but they are for “MONEY” why because thousand of police force are been recruited in the state but they have done nothing for safeguarding of rule’s and law but choas for the entirely people of Southern Sudan.
Those postition are just create for so-call ” SDG” & $$$$$$$$ of the GoSS where thousand of it’s revenue goes to the personnel pocket or A/C.We care less even if the are there for or not it’s the same like they are not there.

This is good news at last our young nation to be is on the right track to recruiting Police Officers.Law and order in itself shows how best that nation is fairing to the outside world.The police are there to help people,they are people helping people and are not judges as such. Jonglei state is giving some good examples as to how we can best change our nation.A Police Officer should have the below quality:
