South Sudan president warns of endangered peace at rally

By Isaac Vuni

May 26, 2009 (JUBA) – The president of the regional government of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, on Tuesday praised the guerrilla fighters who had won Sudan’s 2005 peace deal, but warned that the agreement was under threat from enemies of peace both within and without the ten southern states.

SPLM/A, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army, swept across south Sudan as a guerrilla movement sparked by the mutiny of an army battalion.

Kiir, in an address today to masses at the Dr.John Garang Mausoleum in Juba, said that the SPLA Day would continue to be marked by new generations in remembrance of the heroic struggle for justice, freedom equality and dignity.

But he warned, “The CPA, that we concluded as a result of our enormous sacrifices, is seriously threatened by enemies of peace from within our realm and without.”

The day was the 26th anniversary of the SPLM/A, held under the theme “Remembering the people struggle and together to face the challenges of democratic transformation.” Kiir noted that it’s a day to remember both fallen and living heroes who sacrificed their blood and limbs for freedom of southern Sudanese.

Over three thousand inhabitants of Juba turned up for the celebration.

This year’s celebration coincided with the return of the rod of south Sudanese spiritual leader Ngundeng, the president explained, as well as a meeting of south Sudan traditional chiefs to discuss strategies for peace, reconciliation and unity among grassroots.

Referring to the rod of the prophet Ngundeng, Kiir hailed the British academic — Dr. Douglas Johnson — for returning stolen property of southerners that ought now to be kept in national archive of the south.

Kiir posed that the communities of the ten southern states of Southern Sudan are fighting among themselves after they had fought the oppressive Khartoum government as a united force led by SPLM/A with a common slogan and comradeship based not on tribal, regional or religious affiliations.

Questioning why disunity occurred after signing of the CPA in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, Kiir suggested that the insecurity is part of a well-designed strategy to discredit southerners internationally as people who could not governor themselves particularly when elections and the referendum are approaching.

The SPLA forces are now transforming into a modern army with modern equipments capable to protect southern territories and its people, he said, while condemning those posing in SPLA uniform to terrorize people.

In a new development, Kiir declared that SPLA forces will now enter Juba together with other organized forces, a move not seen since SPLA entered the region’s capital in June 2006. The deployment is meant to control rampant insecurity and crime.

Commenting on the LRA incursion into Western Equatoria State, the president assured the masses that together with SPLA forces they will address the LRA incursion on innocent people of southern Sudan in order to realize lasting peace in prosperous southern Sudan.

Lt. General Oyayi Deng Ajak, SPLA Chief of General staff reminded the masses that most of founding members of SPLM/A died in Kapoeta, Eastern Equatoria State, among whom was Nyacigh Chihluk, the first veteran who successfully captured Boma town from the government for SPLM/A. He added that Dr. John Garang de Mabior’s plane crashed in Kapoeta while returning from Uganda.

Speaking on behalf of southern women, Minister Mary Kiden Kimbo said the released result of census is totally a disgrace to marginalized southerners that claimed only 8.26 million are southerners; worse still female are alleged to be less than male, she said.

Minister Kiden emphasized that women are always over 60 per cent in Sudan’s population and pledged to disprove those who concocted the census result by voting SPLM into power during the coming election scheduled for February 2010.

It’s good that President Kiir knows that insecurity is a designed plan to prove Southerners as people who cann’t govern themselves.

The hard thing either for Goss is how to swiftly come up with strategic techniques to tackle this insecurity since it will soon prove GOSS as failed government. Briefly, they need to deploy SPLA to borders where they suspect guns and ammunitions flow into South where civilians can easily have access to them. They need to enact firearm laws and disarm the largely armed civilian popultion under deatiled Act in order to legalise their actions in the face of international community which they often fear.

As reported I don’t think whether it’s appropriate to unlash SPLA to Juba city other than borders where firearms flow into South and the areas where tribal violences prevail such as between Bari and Mundari, and between Murle and Dinka Bor and Nuer-Lou. But this is not a long term solution either quick disarmament is the best solution and training of special civilian police force to deal with periodic tribal violences. Development comes after security has been secured.

What is so called the president of the South and SPLM is so addicted by the stolen words of equality, justice, democracy and freedom. If Kiir or members of SPLM/GOSS know the meaning these words, they will never point their figures to unnamed others as enemies of CPA.

My brothers and sisters, enemy does not has a color or name and enemy is not a person who is not in power too. Fruits of enemy are nepotism, despotism, tribalism, corruption, vandalims and extermination which are suppose to be in the system of the old Sudan as SPLM once called it. SPLM called those consecutive regimes of Kartoum enemy because they have been practicing such values. These are the reasons for the war which killed millions of the Sudanese.

Let proof this. SPLM did not blame Northerners as subjects, but SPLM used to blame regimes in Khartoum as enemy of Sudanese. When Saddik al-Mahdi or Turabi were no longer in power, they became ordinary Sudanese citizen and Dr. John Garang welcomed them into SPLM because he knew they are not in power to be blamed.

Do we see better life after CPA?

Today, SPLM/GOSS is in power. So as Dr. John wisely knew the right person to be blame is a person in power, then SPLM is to be blamed now not to keep blaming other as it was in Bush.

At his watch, many inhuman acts happen in South and today in celebration he is blinding the poor southerners that there is outer enemy. What kind of president asking suffering people who are desperate for government help. Hvae you not read the article that Kiir was asking suffering people during celebration that why problem happen after CPA. Look at him.

    Compare SPLM and NCP.
NCP offers security and development to their people in North.
But SPLM offers snakes and stone by encouraging inhuman acts in South. So, morally, NCP enthroned itself in chair of superiority while SPLM immorally embraced the inferiority.
    Questions are these:
When there is problem, as human we must come out with solution. Barak Obama last week delivered the speech to close down Gurtanimo. The whole world and Americans were waiting to hear from him about what are the alternative solutions for prison if it is to be closed. He actually detailed every move for closure.

Today Kiir admitted there is problem in South.
Okay, but what are his vision or programs to end those porblems. Nothing we hear except blaming others. It is unusual to know that a man in power could put blame on unknown people.
    Mother of king Solomon said,
“stop drinking, no time for the king to drink. King time is to solve problem.” Subjects and opposition are the ones to blame.

Kiir, how much money you have looted with your men? This is one of problem you must solve if you are president of people.

Kiir, are you willing to divert our budget for development? If yes, then that is one solution because people will see prosperity and truth you and your government.

Kiir how many guns your invisible (not SPLA)militants have? God said clean your eye first before cleaning other person’s eye. If you begin disarming with your own militant which Bashier mentioned to you during celebration in Juba in 2008, then that is possible solution because other people who are afraid from being wed out from being might truth SPLM/GOSS as guardian and hand in their guns. But if not you are the enemy of South.

Kiir, when tribal chief or king in South outcry for SPLM/GOSS protection or when chief or king report to SPLM/GOSS that their cattles have been taken and their villages were burned to ashes by southerners not northerners, does your SPLM/GOSS take any punishment and preventive steps? If yes, then you are fulfilling the vision of New Sudan, but if not you are the enemy of vision.
Stop, stop and stop blaming others. Opposition and other who are out from office are the ones to blame you. Vision of SPLM (NEW SUDAN) is fading away and new visions are on the way if you do not liberate yourself from nepostims, tribalims, corruption, despotism, vandalism and extermination.
Go home now and rest at your village.

    Hey Mr Kiir Miyardit,

You are completely wrong about your speech. How come you said that May 26th is the day to remember our heroes. Are you sure that May 26th is the day in which SPLA under Commander Kerubino Kuanyin Bol, took up Arms and fought in Mading-Bor Town? Why are you blindfooled yourself that you know about the Movement? Kiir Miyardit, how are you going to represent our fallen heroes like John Garang, Pagan Aguek, Kerubino Kuanyin Bol, Arok Thon Arok, Nyacheng`gak, Francis Ngor Ngor, William Nyuon Bany, Joseph Uduo as well as Majier Gai,Yusuf Kuwa Mikki and so many other SPLA soldiers?

Kiir Miyardit, be frank to your people if you are not really knowledgeable about the way how to liberate your people from their foes. Kiir, I know that you are the only person left amongst those of the Seven SPLA Generals who formed the Guerilla on May 16,1983. Kiir, in your resent remarkable speech, do you mean that Ngundeng Bong’s rod was formed on May 16,1983 and the SPLA was formed on May 26,1983 is that what you mean or not? Kiir Miyardit, you are not a valor completely!!!. I will see the way how Ngundeng Bong’s rod will make you win the Election from Omar Bashir and go a head with your remiss speech.

The think that your nothing in South Mr Kiir, the only solution to dude like yourself is go and stick next to Al basher and you will get the outcomes of acting like a child. Why are you in Juba just teaching your mongrel junglese to mis act barbarically, stealing of Equatorian kids and left over foods. Since I was talking of your cowardness no body believes me, but now you prove it yourself, your little niggar are in complain of bomb been place in SPLA/M office in Khartoum. But as a coward hiding in South you cannot prove whether it is a true statement or just make up. Go to Bashir, he wants you to be with him. Coward junglese believe that they can really rule South, how and why? Only for this period of time. The Arabs like you for madness of accepting slavery for yourself and for your easy going, I mean easy to deceive like a little kid. they will not make and harm to you dinkas. Let Kiir go and stay with his friends of Bashir and Taha. You have nothing to do in South only acting like a dictator, every single issue your foot print is there. WHY?
If you can stand on water, then you are able to deal with Mr LoGiC bOy, because Logic is a man for life. Simply anti junglese/ dinkas.

What a remarkable statement Mr. president made since his first hour in the office of presidency. This is magnificient realisation of the triggering of the stablisation of the southern Sudan communities. This messes are mainly conspired by the khartoum government in conjunction with the money & power driven leaders in the south to implementing this stupids matrix to jeopardise the progress of the CPA.In other hand Mr, president you seem to forgot Mr. Riek Machar with his magic rod he used during his genocide against Bor people in 1991 incident. You should have not give this blind vice president the power to control the celebration of 16th May as he stabbed movement at the back during his plot against government.Eventually, he did the celebration of the welcoming of the magic rod Ngundeng instead of marking the day southern started exercised their power and freedom from the foreigners regime as reballion. How come all these are not schedule before and after 16th May as the significant day we all knows including our children born overnight. This is not the event people should not remember to make mistake of collision with unimportant event and that was deliberately designed by Riek to boycotte this day. This is the lesson you should learn from now and put in your schedule diary.

    Mr. President:

Thank you for your presidential address. In fact I know you are good hearted hero and a quiet decent man. But you need to work very hard to remain in power and to avoid bloodshed in your watch.

Because of this, paying southerners by repeatition of lip-service is not enough, now people of south Sudan want to see you in action, they don’t want to see you in talking.

Actually, you are right there are a lot of enemies within and outside our primeters and you don’t need to stick your neck out that far to fine these worse enemies. Most of the enemies are dinning with you day and night, they chat with you, pray with you, get the best share of whatever you normally give to your best friends and most importantly, handful of them come from your own advisory team.

Now here are the suggested solutions:

    1. Do new reshufling and the targeted areas should be the important ministeries like ministery of finance, defense, interior, foreign, trade and land & housing. One tribe should not run these or most of these ministeries as this generate disasfaction to you government and later divisions among the people.

    2. Remove all those villagers who are surounding you in the name of advisors and replace them with educated citizens from difference backgrounds & ethnicities.

    3. Encourage tribal conferences and peace reconcilations.

    4. Strenthen anti-corruption bearu and other financial institutions to control this ramdam money laundering and fraud.

    5. Judges and law enforcement agencies must be given strong powers to charge and persecute those who incite violents among people and also those who don’t respect national resources.

    6. Discourage or remove all those oldsters who always want to invest tribalism among the people.

    7. You work hard I heard you work only two hours a day that is not enough, as president you need to spend at least good amount of time in your office addressing all those thorny issues with your advisors.

    8. Don’t try to bury your head in the same strategies that don’t work, be flexible with your thinking.

Mr. president all these are from my cool heart.

I hope someone print this page and take it to you and you accept to utilize them for us to see the difference.

    God bless

    Got it Boy!

“Insecurity” which is fuel by ongoing violents among Southern Sudanese states is indeed, a “designed plan”, by those who have grudge against Southerners and their bid for future self-determination. Therefore, they would like to see a failing attempt of self-governing of Southern Sudan, rather than their ( Southerners) solely sucess.

The irony is that the people who are used to trigger these violents are native Southerners. Therefore, the nature of these violents are quite complicated. The bright side of it is the recognition of the cause by the Southern leaders, Mr. Mayardit in particular. This indicated that these leaders are at some point capable of assessing the situation from its root to up top, and that is the necessity of solving the conflict and achieving peace and prosperity in the South.
