Rumbek school runs out of classroom capacity

June 5, 2009 (RUMBEK) — Rumbek Senior Secondary School has run out of
classroom capacity due to the heavy intake this school year of 1,180
students, said acting headmaster Mr. Adongkena Kenneth.
Headmaster Mr. Gabriel Malieng confirmed that this year’s enrollment
is in fact higher than last year’s intake; the majority of the
students this year had done well during primary school examinations at
their various levels, so managing for many to advance to the secondary
school.
Only 20 teachers are presently teaching in this school. Rumbek Senior
Secondary School is administered directly by the Government of
Southern Sudan (GOSS) with little support from Lakes state authority.
Meanwhile, Lakes state Education minister Mr. Gordon Maker Abol, who
delivered a speech recently during the celebration of Education Day in
Rumbek Freedom Square, has disclosed classroom figures for the state’s
eight counties. There are 267 schools (77% of which are owned by
government), with 544 classrooms (where only 253 are permanent
classrooms and 291 are under-tree classrooms, roof- classrooms, or
tent classrooms). The total pupil to classroom ration is 166:1 and the
pupil to permanent classroom ratio is 357:1, indicating the urgent
need for more permanent classrooms.
Abol affirmed that the total number of primary pupils in Lakes State
is 90,315, where only 32% are female students, which alerts education
leaders and other stakeholders to work hard in addressing educational
equity and gender parity.
He further noted that among the 1,862 teachers in Lakes state, only 8%
are female teachers. The qualification of about 41% of these teachers
are primary 6 certificate level, 15% are those who completed junior
school, 28% are those who completed secondary school (i.e., grade 10
complete), 12.5% are O-Level certificate (senior secondary school
complete) and only about 3% are A-Level training (i.e., completion of
senior secondary school and a one year training) or above (diploma and
degree graduates).
These data imply that existing teachers require further academic and
pedagogical training.

I don,t see whether people oncern like maker will give hand to SSS. Rumbek. he is very busy with his 15 X 15 shop being cureently built in Rumbek South Market and his huge house being built in Pacong, so he will not mind about RSS.

If the answer is yes then we are really facing big problem in Sudan.
What is Government so called GOSS doing with the money they get from oil? Drinking alcohol or sleeping with women in Juba street?
I think the answer is No.
it is just that, the Government is too reluctant and ignores about what is happening or due to that he (GOSS) is young to control and answer people question.
