Sudan FM to be replaced by SPLM in cabinet reshuffle

June 21, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – The ex-southern rebel group Sudan people Liberation Movement (SPLM) intends to request replacement of some of its federal ministers in the government of national unity, Sudanese newspaper reported.

The independent Al-Sahafa newspaper said that the SPLM will nominate Kosta Manibi minister for cabinet affairs to be the foreign minister instead of Deng Alor.

The South Sudan government minister for cabinet affairs Luka Byong will take Manibi’s position in the federal government. Alor will replace Byong in his post.

The newspaper also said that there will be further shuffle in the government of south Sudan (GoSS).

The last major reshuffle took place in December 2007 when two months after the SPLM froze its participation in the government in wake of dispute with ruling National Congress Party (NCP).

The NCP is particularly unhappy with foreign minister Alor particularly for his position on the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

    Damnit!

What else can we say when the really irresponsible government start reshuffling cabinets like changing underwears?

Who to be blame now for this reshuffling if it become true as said? Kiir, NCP or Kiir’s respect toward ICC’s northern headliners? This is too much.

GOSS should not use experiment through public service as though they don’t have any clues as they hand-pick piggies bulldozzers to benefit on federal resource while drawning our country to zero level of intimidation by NCP dirty politics.

Wake up and stand for your right Southerners!

Dear brothers,we have to wait instead of talking badly against our president Salva Kiir Mayardit. You should not just talk like illiterate person who does not understand the politics.Try to re-read the last statement of the article and think about what happened to Pagan Amum Akech.Deng Alor is a thread to them and so did Amum during his time in Khartoum.

I would like to inform my President Salva Kiir to look into that a ligation of Reshuffling Deng Alor.We can agree if there is no any secret behind it.If the reshuffling is from the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS);then well and good but why at this time? Deng is a thread to them and that is what we need as Junnubians. We don’t want a man of yes instead of No Your Excellency.Deng Alor hits the nail on the head.He does not care about whoever claims to be powerful then him.Well done Deng and I hope that you will be heard as soon as possible.I really like your reaction against Non Christian party (NCP).You really rain like your name and you should have to keep on raining like that.Let’s wait from our president Kiir De Mayardit.Critic Ngueny from Bor town

Don’t get surprised of the changies that happening in the Al-Bashier government I am encouraging you not to be chocked why because Mr president is keeping only that kind of people whom they are defendance of his current situation of arrest warrants and we know this position of the Foreign Ministery and it’s role but Mr Alor didn’t play any role to protict Mr Al-Bashier for his crimes this is the main reason of Mr Alor to be sacked from the position as the Foreign Minister even it hasn’t lasted for months. You know and, less the roots of the tree it hasn’t pulled from the deeper so,the tree will still produces the fruits what ever the qulifications of the Ministeries if they do not stand beside him then it wouldn’t work and, in this case we can’t blame[SPLA] the South Sudan government but all to gether we looking for the solution of this very big matter the replacement will countinue and going on

I do not know what we are upto. It seems the post of foreign Minister do not carry any terms of reference (TOR). I am compelled to think so because when Lam was removed, the reasons were more of his support to NCP and jeopardising our interests in the South.

Now that Deng Alor’s personal stand on the ICC warrant against Bashir is pro- Southern Sudan which makes the NCP uncomfortable, I do not know what qualities does the President of Southern Sudan want from a foreign minister? I thought Alor is the person in the right place to make the Arabs scratch their arm pits otherwise these guys are just having an easy ride in the implementation of the CPA.

Kiir should be very careful in removing people who matter at the foreign scene like Alor. Let us be objective and go with what we think is the best interest of Southern Sudan.

Resuffling ministers makes candidates uncomfortable and will be confused because of the security of tenure of office. You are trying to adjust to the office and deliver no sooner have you heard that you are resuffled. What is this?

God have mercy on the people of Southern Sudan.
