On Monday night, Kiir held talks with Libyan president Muammar al-Gaddafi. The Libyan state media said that Kiir congratulated Gaddafi on his new role as Chairman of the African Union (AU).

Kiir reportedly briefed Gaddafi on the latest developments in Sudan and particularly the South in light of the 2005 North-South peace agreement as well as the upcoming 2011 elections.

The Libyan news agency said that Kiir urged Gaddafi to use his clout in finding a peaceful settlement to the Darfur crisis. The Libyan leader was quoted as saying that all parties particularly in Darfur to resort to dialogue and refrain from violence and accept African peace proposals.

The Sudanese foreign minister Deng Alor told the official Sudanese news agency (SUNA) that the visit was to respond to an invitation from Gaddafi and that it tackled bilateral relations and Libyan investments in agriculture and tourism.

    Dear President,

That is what you should be doing, leave Juba to Dr. Machar and everything will be fine. Your team in Washington are doing an excellence job there and Abyei case is on track.
