Rumbek volleyball match won by Jamus team

June 19, 2009 (RUMBEK) – Two rival volleyball teams faced off in Rumbek town last Friday evening, resulting in Jamus beating Zain at a score of 3 to 2.

The evening volleyball match was attended by Lakes state director general in the ministry of Youth and Sport of Lakes state government, Mr. William Madong Mading as well as the Rumbek central county commissioner, Abraham Makoi Bol Kodi, who had contributed 1,000 Sudanese pound to both two teams’ players.

He encouraged sport in Lakes state territory to discourage bad behaviors across the state and also affirmed that with sport activities in this state everyone, youth and elders, will be seen busy with a day sporting events rather than engaging in politics. “Sport can make a change in a second and your history will be well remembered,” said the official.

Child fans gathered to cheer “down, down, down Zain team” whereas other fans of Zain team cheered saying “down, down Jamus team.”

An 18-year old boy affirmed, “I am a supporter of Jamus because Jamus is a very strong animal, it is like we people of Rumbek.” He challenged Zain team saying that Zain cellular network is always a bad network that usually tells callers that the number one is calling cannot be reached at the moment please try again later, while one is trying to reach a best friend about an important issue.

“We will defeat Zain team and let them try again or otherwise we will crush them down with AK47 and we will eat it,” he concluded.

On the other hand, a 12-year old fan of Zain said, “I support Zain because without Zain network everyone will not get a good job and Zain in fact is good for security and safety; my mama usually informs me when there is danger going on in the town. Although I may be at school chatting with my friends, it is still like being at home talking to my relative,” she said.
