Official says more disarmament to occur in Lakes state
By Manyang Mayom
June 26, 2009 (RUMBEK) — The Lakes state Deputy Governor and Minister of Local Enforcement, H.E. David Nok Marial Buot appeared in Yirol West County on Thursday amid tight security to enforce disarmament in the county.
Mr. Buot for the first time is visiting Yirol West County, Awerial County and Yirol East County just to raise awareness in the communities on how disarmament procedures could be carried out in the state.
In a rally held at Yirol West County on Thursday after a security meeting of the county local authority, the community strongly welcomed the disarmament but demanded Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) President Salva Kiir Mayardit to visit greater Yirol.
A number of chiefs notified the deputy governor to convey the message to Governor Daniel Awet to invite President Kiir for a normal visit to all Lakes state counties; they cited prior visits in which the GOSS president visited Rumbek Central County without paying a visit to the others county as he has done in other states.
The GOSS president had promised to visit all eight counties of Lakes during the Lakes state political turmoil last year.
Recently a special court in Yirol West County bearing the authority of a traditional court has announced the findings of some murder cases of Anuol Payam.
Inter-clan and inter-tribal violence continues in the state, compounded by lack of a fully functioning justice system and the widespread availability of arms left over from the 22 year civil war.

That’s very important to aware them before you start disarmament, I ‘ll appreciate disarmament that will be done in a good manner rather then applying force to disarm them, i assure you, there are more then three guns own by one person in Rumbek/Yirol, if you want us to be in peace, do not favor anyone, if i were you to initiate that disarmament, i would have start with Lieutenant’s brothers, Commander’s Brothers, than down to families with no people with high ranks in the army, that will bring fairness to the community, after you have done that, give prove of what you done so far to the community leaders, chiefs because they the people who know each and every member of their own communities, inhuman people wouldn’t understand the importance of disarmament.
I hate imbecile people who will still corrupt this disarmament again, Lieutenants, Commanders ETC will still hide guns for their families again if i ‘m not wrong.

H.E. David Nok that is not logic sir to make disarmament at this time What are you see before too much death occur out since this governor of yours taking over . I know last year i went home people killing themself all the time . county to county tribe with tribe clans with clans , there i see people are hostile to each other you can not even see there is akind of leaderships in a state . truly talk mr Nok if you come again like your brother Awet of doing the same rules people of Lake shall be die all . Second your disarmament is really true but is better to do since this man taking over a lots of people deaths, no way of disarmaming them .Don’t disturbance let them having their guns because rest of nine state are not even disarm .Or you’re forget of Nuer people are they disarmament also ? if so just continue .
