Letter of Support to the SPLM/A/GOSS in the wake of Lam Akol’s SPLM-DC party launch
We, the undersigned representing the views of hundreds of concerned citizens and committed members of the SPLM/A political party, unanimously refute in the strongest terms possible the treacherous, immoral and futile defection from among the marginalized people of Sudan, the loaded and ill-intentioned allegations and baseless accusations against the SPLM/A/GOSS via the newly invented and NCP-sponsored party, SPLM-DC, under its ill-fated leadership of Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin and cohorts. Given some turbulent historical verities caused directly by this agent of gloom and doom who now claims to be the founder of a party to rescue the fate of the marginalized people of the Sudan, we genuinely are made to believe that the formation of such distraction is politically and socially perilous to the aspirations not only of South Sudan and all the marginalized people but also the vision of New Sudan as enshrined in the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

A lot had already been mentioned about Dr. Akol’s past regarding similar exercise that have caused lives and properties and nearly crushed the SPLM/A had it not been for the strong will of the people to stay the course in the interest of our cause. The CPA would have been buried initially with the Frankfurt and Fashoda fake and spoon-tailored agreements in the early and late 1990’s respectively. But because the injustices, corruption and human rights abuses of all successive oppressive regimes in Khartoum had more toll on the marginalized Sudanese, and has not changed since then, the people chose to stick to the liberation principles, championed by the SPLM/A. We strongly urge our people still to continue to do the same. In deed, its more common sense, in our view, that Sudanese who have lived and survived the stings of splits would not support Dr. Akol’s third round–crafting of another pseudo-parasitic political party.

Further, it’s not news to all that the party holding the majority power in Khartoum is not a new party to persuade us to think differently and hope it will turn things our way as easily heard from the voices of agents of doom. Vigilant, peace and freedom loving Sudanese are aware that the NCP has put in place every snag on the way and continues to do more to derail the CPA as has been with other agreements. It’s therefore, self defeating to believe that a Moses in body of Dr. Lam Akol will now emerge–victorious than he has done in the past, to continue and complete the full implementations of the agreement, when his relation with those planning to ambush and kill the agreement is very clear in our eyes and history.

Another gray area that Sudanese intellectual capital should be watchful of is the composition of the so called SPLM-DC executive organ. It sounds that, in trying to photocopy the SPLM as they have done of the name, they have made attempts to nationalize it by involving northerners, in order to appeal to the entire nation. What however, remains unclear is the track record of those northerners involved as well as southerners who make up the executive organ of the party. Unless you have known the background of those northerners clearly well, you will be committing a political suicide by embracing ideologies of the supreme powers behind the impending obliteration of the CPA, which will be buried along with your very hopes.

Those of you who have been in combat understand how easy it is to blow up bridges and concrete buildings with dynamites, but what remains a problem is how easily and quickly we can put them back for services. The SPLM has continued the journey of the 1955 dreams beyond Addis Ababa to bring an internationally witnessed and signed comprehensive agreement with abundant guarantees for the permanent solutions to the immense problems of the Sudan. In the implementation process, perceived beneficiaries of this agreement clearly see how opponents of peace and equality in the Sudan place roadblocks on the path of the agreement, but evil temptations push them to try failed options under the pretext of rescuing the CPA. These observable treachery shouldn’t be tolerated by those Sudanese who understand the crux of the matter be they southerners, northerners, easterners or westerners.

As ingrained in the hard-earned CPA, the Sudanese people, especially from the marginalized South, Blue Nile, Nuba Mountains and Abyei, for the first time in history, are preparing to decide their destiny as to whether they would opt for unity or secession in a referendum scheduled for 2011 and popular consultation for other areas to ascertain their views prior to 2011. It is a historically important movement that, more than ever, calls decisively for the unity and oneness among the entire communities of the marginalized and citizens of the New Sudan and support for the SPLM as the only political party in the nation and South that is politically and morally well-equipped with nationalistic leadership to ensure that this exercise is conducted in a fair and balanced fashion. Conscious of this great responsibility, the SPLM/A has committed itself to working hard and hand in hand with other patriotic and political forces to meet the aspirations of our people and gathering political momentum to meet the challenges that the General Elections and the Referendum will bring along.

While it is adopting all the necessary strategies and steps to live up to the expectations of the people, some ill-intentioned and intrinsically immoral pseudo-politician, such as Dr. Lam Akol and his cronies, who are notorious for bad behaviors within the Movement and beyond, are trying to thwart all the efforts being exerted by the Goss under the leadership of SPLM by creating confusion, tension, inter-south conflict and disunity in solidarity and coalition of forces of change and ultimate creation of New Sudan. Given our past history, we see in this cantankerous behavior of Dr. Lam and cohort a malevolent move being engineered by the NCP-NIF in the North to weaken and disintegrate the solidarity of the weak and coalition of forces of change and that of the South, politically and socially. Common sense has it that any kind of inter-South split empowers the Khartoum government to destroy the South and prevent what she wants.

In conclusion, we see Dr. Lam’s ill-considered defection, co-option and deadly amalgamation into the NCP arm-pit as another dangerous episode engineered by the enemies of peace in Sudan, to certainly magnify cracks, confrontation and ultimate collision among the peace lovers in the interest of the NCP. This surely will haunt the future of the South and all other marginalized areas in many different fronts. We all remember with great pain, the split within the SPLM/A caused by Dr. Lam at a very crucial and decisive moment whereby the people’s struggle was almost achieving its goal but pulled aback in the early 1990’s. The Khartoum ruling clique and oppressive fundamentalist government took advantage of the situation to unleash its very deadly wars on the South, Southern Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains —a factor that led to the loss of many precious lives from among our fellow citizens. Got that? Dr. Lam’s action nearly brought our defeat and eternal enslavement by a people whose loyalty and patriotism to Sudan is not only questionable but null and void.

Considering the great loss experienced and heavily paid for in lives properties by all the marginalized people of Sudan because of such split, the general expectation of the people is ”never again”. Their only longing is not a repeat of that terrible legacy. If anything, it is that nothing of such kind should ever take place within the SPLM and also within our history of struggle and, indeed, all struggles.

But notwithstanding this, the unpatriotic northern-controlled government has gotten used to bribing as a weapon of domination. They use it to cripple the unprincipled and morally corrupt persons the like of Dr. Lam Akol and cohorts to carry out its anti-SPLM and anti-South’s autonomy their destructive strategies as always. This is a naked-truth and common knowledge that Dr. Lam and all Sudanese including Southerners know very well. As things stand out, the situation needs monitoring. In this context, we urge both the SPLM leadership, ranks and files as well as our coalition and partners from the marginalized parts and forces of change from Old Sudan to New Sudan of everything equal and just, to remain focused. Go ahead with what you have been doing and continue to do so without distraction of any kind from those who make noise for blackmail and attention.

For our (SPLM) leadership, we give you our unwavering support in the face of odds, trials and treachery. It is only at such trying times that unity makes sense and gets stronger. We are alert and shall remain so through and through until victory is totally and finally achieved. Please, dispatch emissaries in all the various villages in the South to counter the perilous strategies of the NCP-sponsored SPLM-DC

What about James Okuk? Is he a full or another Acting Secretary for foreign affairs?

Good work Lam Akol, you will soon be a President of Sudan by next year and if not please, accept defeat and shamefully leave the politics. You have done enough of leadership chasing, planting hatred, coups and defections here and there.

It’s time for you, after winning or losing next year’s elections to clearly understand the people message. Please, do not ever think of joining Hamas and Izboulah because such a move will owe you dearly in Sudan. You will be in big trouble even your allies NIF and Araby Ba`ath parties will put an end to your membership in those terrorist organisations.

Some one from NIF commenting in a racist newspaper of Rayaam which is actually Ra`ay NIF mentioned that Al Bashir will appoint Lam Akol as his first Vice President next year, what a big white liar.

Well, Lam can elusively let NIF cheated him with a promiss to assist him gain the leadership of Southern Sudan government which will not smell either, but getting a leadership position in the north will be a never meet dream.

NIF is also whatching your move with grave concerns as I heard them saying they are fed up and lost trust with no-stop defectors – joiners

Those who are critical about SPLM-DC are all Dinkas. They think SPLM is their rightful project and they can do what ever the want. If that is the case we will have to start over again. Dinkas have secure their places in western countries that is why the are mismanaging the south. All their children are in schools in East Africa i.e. Uganda and Kenya. Dinkas are Arabs of south Sudan. The rest of the tribes in the south should rise against their imperialist thinking. They will not come their senses untill they get it rough.

Dr. Lam should have named his party differently to gained a support from Southerners. This is the same faction of 1991 and he is going nowhere, call it NCP-DC. His days came to an end and he will die in hands of Arabs. Dr. Lam, move your ass to Juba to compete with SPLM head to head.
