France condemns flogging of Sudanese women
July 12, 2009 (PARIS) — The French government today deplored reports of flogging Sudanese women over “indecent clothing” and called on Khartoum to respect international conventions in this regard.
“France, which is fighting for the abolition of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and violence against women, calls on the Sudanese authorities to stop the proceedings against these people” he added.
Yesterday Lubna Hussein, a journalist and a public information officer at the UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) told Sudan tribune that she was one of nine girls taken by the Public Order Police (POP) on Sunday from a ballroom in an area east of Khartoum for wearing trousers.
The arrests took place under the Criminal Penal Code which states that anyone wearing “indecent clothing” shall be punished with no more than 40 lashes or a fine or both.
Ahead of her were four other girls including non-Muslim Southerners under the age of 18 who were sentenced to 10 lashes and a fine of 250 Sudanese pounds.
Hussein and two other women were spared the sentence because they asked for the presence of their lawyers and their cases are still pending.
The French official urged Sudan “to sign and ratify the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women”.
North Sudan is governed by Islamic Shari’a law which imposes several restrictions on public appearance of women.

France has no right to tell a sovereign independent country how to operate and dicate which laws it should use. Sudan is a majority Muslim country and it wants Sharia law, if those journalists are upset about this they can move to the secular south.
France doesn’t have the moral high ground to dictate anything after the massacres it committed throughout Africa.

To whom are these pseudo Arabs and infidels masqerading as Muslims thinks they are teaching Decency and Morality? Do they think that the rests of the Sudanese are unaware of their immorality and indecent acts that they commit such as marrying and fucking their sisters(nieces) and half sisters? We know that they live by committing incest by marrying their aunts and uncles daughters.Even sheep and cattle knows such close relations less this dirty creatures who call themselves Muslims and human. What morals and morality can they teach that cattle and sheep cannot teach us in Sudan.
