The electoral body said the demarcation has been completed in the 15 northern Sudan states besides Eastern and Western Equatoria states in southern Sudan.

It also announced that the demarcation of geographical constituencies in the rest of the Southern States would be announced soon.

The Sudan electoral body made the announcement of the completion after a meeting held in its headquarters, headed by the NEC chairman Mr. Abel Alier and the presence of all members of the Commission to discuss the issue of the delineation of geographical constituencies in the 25 States.

Appointed in May, the higher electoral committees at the level of states had submitted their proposals for the demarcation of the geographical constituencies to the National Elections Commission for consideration.

Last June, the NEC delayed for the second time the date of the general elections to April 2010. The voters’ registration is planned for November 2009.

The elections law voted in July 2008 establishes a mixed electoral system. 60 per cent of the 450 MPs will be chosen through the majority elect in their geographical constituencies. It also guarantees 15% of the MPs elected through proportional representation and 25% of the parliamentary seats to women who also will be elected through the proportional representation.

Sudan completes delineation of 17 geographical constituencies
Abel should not make noise as the geographical constituencies of all the States in Sudan was demarcated in 1956 during our independence from British rule.
Abel with his habit of postponing election in Sudan should know that he is no longer S.Sudanese and when he dies his body will not be bury in Bor Town.
