Sudan SPLM having trouble funding Hague delegation

July 20, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) may be forced to cut its delegation members flying to The Hague to attend the award ceremony at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on Wednesday.

The PCA will render its decision on the dispute between the SPLM and the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) over the border region of Abyei.

The tribunal recommended that both sides invite chiefs of the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka communities to be present at the ceremony.

But the SPLM is racing against time to secure funding to cover the costs of sending its delegation to the Hague.

The ex-Southern rebel group informed the court that depending on their ability to raise the necessary cash, they may end up dispatching fewer people than planned to represent the SPLM.

The delegation consists of 64 individuals that includes SPLM figures, Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) officials, Ngok Dinka & Dinka Chiefs, civil society members and press corps.

Among the notable figures in the delegation is GoSS 1st Vice President Riek Machar, Sudan foreign minister Deng Alor, GoSS presidential affairs minister Luka Byong and former SPLM administrator in Abyei Edward Lino.

The NCP delegation on the other hand consists of 46 individuals including government officials, Misseriya leaders and media representatives.

Hey Comrades!where is our 50% share of oil,the GOSS should not limited the number of her delegation to Hague, the Ngok Dinka and the chiefs of that region must be present during the ruling. The SPLM know where they normally run when they have shortage of cash.

    Please work it out.
