Sudan Tribune journalist arrested by GoSS authorities
July 29, 2009 (JUBA) — Sudan Tribune’s Correspondent in Southern Sudan Mr. Isaac Vuni had been arrested in Juba for the second time in following his release two months ago on bail.
Vuni was arrested for reporting the circumstances surrounding the deteriorating financial condition of the beleaguered Nile Commercial Bank (NCB) which threatens to bring down the first bank established in Southern Sudan after the signing of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
According to an eyewitness Vuni was arrested midday at the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly while covering the parliament session.
He was manhandled and dragged by security agent to Juba Police Station, the eyewitness said.
Sudan Tribune condemns in the strongest terms the persistent intimidation and arrest of Mr. Isaac Vuni by South Sudan authorities and demands his immediate release.
We are concerned that the frequent arrest of Mr. Vuni by the authorities of Southern Sudan appears to aim at suppressing press and political freedoms amid growing intolerance to freedom of expression.

Again and Again we see what the Serpent SPLM and Kiir really want in the South Sudan after 2011. Everyone in their right mind would argue that Sudan Tribune is a very pro SPLM paper but even that’s not good enough for Kiir.
I urge all people to look and see what’s behind all the rhetoric and speeches by the SPLM of wanting a free, secular and democratic Sudan. If pro SPLM journalists are repeatedly harassed and arrested imagine what will happen to anti SPLM journalists. Why is the SPLM so hypocritical?
This is why I totally and unequivocally support Dr Lam Akol and General Paulino Matip of the honorable South Sudan Defence Forces.

Sad news to all people who get news from Sudan Tribune:
GOSS, you are lier, lier, lier with thinking that you could rule South with communist way or undemocracatic.Government of South Sudan dose not want demoracy. They do not need people to know their corruptions, looting, raps, and all an ilegal activities they do everyday. They think that they are still in bush. the wrong system was started by John Grang who train his SPLM members with looting instead of democracy. Peace was brought by deferent countries for citizen not for SPLM. You are lier if you want to make people fear of you by arresting reporters mr Isaac Vuni. Election need in south so that we can eliminate corrupters. Please release Isaac. Do good things and you will be good on face of people.

GoSS IS FAKE!!
The Government of Kiir is doing nothing. I mean why arresting journalist? I think Bashir government is better campare to Kiir one because during the war Alfere Taben used to be open yet Bashir didnt kill him and am sure if it was during Kiir, he would have been died.
It is now 100 percent that if Kiir become President, he will be more worse that Bashir.
It is better to deal with known devil than deal with unknown Angle (Kiir) I smell danger in the South. My God Bless our beloved journalists of South Sudan who are suffering in the hand of Kiir Government.
Brother in Christ,

Shame on the so called the legislative Assembly of been behind the corruption of the Southern Sudan, jounrnalist have right every where to express themselves accordance with the provision of their duties and obligation not limit to certain extence, the issue of arresting Mr Isaac is clearly indication that Nile Commercial Bank is going into liquidity because of their mismanagement from legisletive Assembly and this lead to following below.
1-Legisletively Assembly are misleading the presidency by allocation fund for developtment projects in different sector of Ministry they calculator the budget and pass to bill for president signature then they did not follow with the sector which budget allocation have been gone to,
2-Some of they government offical have been contribute for the down fall of Nile Commercial Bank where they don’t want their names to be appear of doing that.
3-Governmental Assests have been turn for personal use and non of the assembly follow that and they will go car give to their wife & children to drive and when the car an ancident the person is not been investigate proparely and go arround and use the money which have left for different work to spend on the car which got ancident.
If all those are happening in the GoSS and Assembly or PM never follow that issue closely with president and saying president have no competence carry out all those maenwhile they have not follow their duties and responsiblities given to them,
I personel Condams the acts of arresting our people of doing their job yet authortise are threatne them, indimadating, harassing them these must stop otherwise our struggles are for vain

This Juba day Secondary School finalist and Juba University graduate Journalist is in danger, the reason for now and then arrest is just of reporting the realities which are taking place always in parliament and the corrupt Government of Salver Kiir, yet SPLA talk about transparency, Democracy or what ever they deem they were in the Bush for, but now is totally opposite, corruption, killing, looting, confiscation of Powerless(non-SPLA People Wives), grabbing of land and all devilevil deeds are in random, what a hell it is? Shut up awhile, you who always support the corrupt Government in South Sudan.

My Fellow Southern Sudanese,
Is this the type of government we aspire to have when we separate? What difference is there for GoSS and the government of Khartoum? Exercising tyranny at this time is only going to discourage whether we can support SPLM as a party after 2011. Why arrest a journalist and manhandled him like that? Did anyone in North America witnessed a journalist being arrested for reporting issues like the one Isaac reported? If they noticed such a reporting to have no ground for truth, then they will either come out and dismiss such allegations or take such cases to the court by calling out the Sudane Tribune as a press Media to represent Isaac’s case and not directly Isaac himself to go to the court and answer question. That is what a democratic country should do. I feel like this is just another way of trying to protect secrecy that surrounds the embezzlement of fund in southern Sudan.
