Sudanese President says act to combat dumping of goods to be passed

KHARTOUM, April 8, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic Gen Umar al-Bashir has announced that an act on industrial development and combating dumping would be issued during the coming period.

Addressing the conclusion of activities of the celebrations of the National Industrialization Day here Wednesday 7 April night, organized by the Ministry of Industry, President Al-Bashir affirmed that the state is giving much concern to the industry to benefit from the country’s agricultural and animal resources and to provide job opportunities for the people.

President Al-Bashir referred to the great development effected in the industrial sector in the country, adding that this would contribute to stopping migration from the rural areas to the urban centres. The President added that the coming period would witness industrial development to meet the requirements of the stage of peace, noting that industry is considered as key for development and prosperity.

The occasion was also addressed by Minister of Industry Dr Jalal Yusuf al-Duqayr, who reviewed plans of his ministry to enhance quality to increase the competitiveness of the industrial products. The minister affirmed that the industrial policies led to increase of the number of factories from 4 to 34 factories.

Meanwhile, President Al-Bashir honoured at the occasion a number of the pioneers of the Sudanese industry by awarding them the orders of accomplishments and distinction.
