FACTBOX- Details of Sudan’s Darfur ceasefire deal

N’DJAMENA, April 9 (Reuters) – Following are the main points of a ceasefire agreement signed late on Thursday by Sudan and two rebel groups fighting in the western Darfur region.

* The ceasefire will take effect within 72 hours of the signing of the deal and will stay in place for 45 days. It will be automatically renewable “unless one of the… parties expresses its opposition”.

* The parties agree to facilitate humanitarian access to civilian populations in need. The deal is also meant to pave the way for a “fair and lasting” solution of the Darfur crisis.

* The agreement calls for final peace talks to begin within two weeks to discuss a definitive settlement and prospects for the social and economic development of the Darfur region.

* The three sides agree to free prisoners of war.

* A ceasefire commission, made up of Chadian mediators and representatives of the international community, will monitor the implementation of the truce deal and assess complaints on any potential violation.
