Since the end of last May, the Southern Sudan ministry of regional cooperation is headed by Gen. Oyay Deng Ajak who replaced Mr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin current minister of of commerce and industry.

During the last week of July, the heads of missions representing the semi-autonomous Government of South Sudan in foreign countries around the world have gathered in Juba to review with the performance of their respective offices abroad.

Minister Ajak, in a circular dated in August 12, cautioned diplomats to desist from peddling rumors and urged them to embark on the mandate of the mission to ensure that peace agreement realizes its intended objective.

“These are untrue and baseless lies perpetrated by the enemies of GOSS aimed at damaging the image of the ministry,” the minister said.

However, General Ajak said such changes would only come when the structures and policies are enacted from the recommendations made during the Head of Mission conference held in Juba last month and would only be done under his hand in consultation with the GOSS President, Salva Kiir Mayadrit.

The minister, last week, paid a visit to Nairobi where he held talks with the met with Kenyan officials on bilateral relations with southern Sudan government. He also visited GOSS bureau of liaison and met the staff there.

He said among the issues discussed in Nairobi was the area of capacity building which Kenya was committed for since the signing of the MOU between Kenya and GOSS in March 9th 2007.

General Ajak said, during a meeting with Nairobi office members that the primary obligation of GOSS Liaison offices abroad is to mobilize international support to enhance and confront impediments hindering the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

South Sudan dismisses rumors on change of liaisons offices heads
It is a good idea for those holding public offices like governors, diplomats and others to sit and review what they have achieved so far. It will promote accountability. South Sudan need to be an example of a people who want to implement ideals of a free society. This advance step in promoting good governance will teach those idoits who are stuck in the mud of religious fantasies to think before they flog women in public for wearing trousers.
