South Sudan UDF party is officially registered

August 20, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The Political Parties Affairs Council delivered today a certificate of registration to the United Democratic Front (UDF) after the removal by the party of “southern Sudan independence” from its constitution.

The political parties board accepted the UDF registration on March 26, provided it replaces the words “separation of South Sudan” in the party statute with “right of self-determination for southern Sudan,” in order to match with the Sudanese constitution and 2005 peace agreement.

The UDF leader Peter Abdel-Rahman Sule protested the decision saying no article in the Sudanese constitution prohibits registration of a political party seeking secession of the south.

The head of parties body Mohamed Bechara Dausa told reporters on Thursday that the point of dispute with the UDF party, was legal. He stressed that the Council adheres to the Sudanese Constitution and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

However he affirmed the right of the UDF to disseminate its political ideas but it has to comply with the registration law.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune last week Sule said determined to take part in the upcoming elections. He added that the UDF party was touring the different southern Sudan states.

If the Political Parties Affairs Council (PPAC) happen to be a National Independence Body (NIB) and works to serve national interests, then the first party to be refused registration would have been NIF/NCP because of its racist Islamic agenda and UDP would have been 2nd on the list.

Very soon, SPLM will correct this delusion of Old Sudan, northern Sudan beliefs and New Sudan national constitution will bans forming racist organisations that divide people as well as military coups.

Despite the refusal of words “separation of Southern Sudan” to be used by now UDF, this is the rightful party to support. There is nothing any rational Southerner would say other than this. The SPLM in the last few days said, it would unilaterally declare the independence of the South in case of failure to reach agreement on the referedum law. Unlike SPLM-DC that links us to the NCP, we Southerner accept any challenging party to shake up the SPLM in the areas where they are not performing very well.

Congratulation to UDF, Bravo, we are strongly behind you.

The Political Parties Affairs Council must be transparent in her national duty, it should deregister religious Parties e.g.NCP, UMMA etc cos of thier Islamic Agenda, Like United Democratic Party(UDF) with South Sudan Seperation Agenda.
Religious Secterianism, Islamic Fundamentalism and other form of Divisive Political and Economical Margenalization Amount to Seperation, Self determination, Popular Consultation.. named it if you like, of South Sudan, Abyei, Nuba Mountains and Southern Blue Nile and formation of the New Sudan with Open boarders northward, u like it or not!!
