Northern Ethiopian state, two Sudanese border states sign cooperation accord
ADDIS ABABA, April 10, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — A delegation headed by the head of the regional government of Tigray Regional State, northern Ethiopia, has returned home from a four-day official visit to Sudan, Radio Ethiopian state of Tigrinya reported yesterday.
The delegation visited Qadarif and Kassala states, in eastern Sudan.
The aim of the visit was to consolidate relations between Ethiopia and Sudan, particularly the brotherly ties between Qadarif and Kassala states which border Tigray – Regional State-, and to create conduce environment to jointly work in the fields of trade, agriculture and security.
Cooperation agreements were also signed between Tigray, Qadarif and Kassala on trade, agriculture and security. The agreements were signed by the head of Tigray Regional State, Mr Tsegay Berhe, and the administrators of Qadarif and Kassala states, Dr Abd-al-Rahman Ahmad and Lt-Gen Faruq Hasan Muhammad Nur, receptively.
