Southern Sudan Islamic council to hold general conference next month
August 28, 2009 (JUBA) — South Sudan Islamic advisory council will hold its general conference for southern Sudan Muslims following the end of Ramadan while the states conferences will be organized during the holy month.
The decision has been taken in a meeting of the advisory council on Thursday held in Home and Away Hotel in Juba, headed by Mr. Abdel-Baki Akol the chairperson of the Council.
The southern Sudan Islamic body also was briefed on the performance of the higher preparatory committee of the conference by Mr. Tahir Bior the head of the panel.
The Council approved the holding of conferences of southern Sudan states and passed a draft statute of the advisory council before to submit it to the General Conference.
Last week, Sudanese First Vice-President and President of Southern Sudan government Salva Kiir Maydrit stressed the importance of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the semi-autonomous region.
Kiir addressing the advisory council of Muslims in South Sudan reiterated the respect of Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) “respects all religions an treating them without discrimination.”

If we allow Islamic to spread in Southern Sudan we shall have conflict. I experience Islamic ideology and how the hate non Muslims.

Currently I have one of my friends in northern Sudan for first time study in Gizera and living in hostel, he is force to fast and eat at 5:00am.
Let us resist the entrance of Islamic in to South otherwise southern Sudan shall involve on terrorism.

1983 census in the south showed the number of muslims among southerners was 17% Christians 16% and indigenous beliefs 67%, muslims number is bigger than christians, Like it expands in the globe, Islam will continue to spread and expand in the south, remember north Uganda are muslims, north Sudan are muslims too and that will make the spread of islam much faster in the south, you can’t block the light of the sun by your hand. Linking the south with north is our strategic plan, building roads, railway passage and nile trasportation are all about to finish, yes, it has economic benefit on the short plan but our goals much greater than that!

The radical Sudanese Islamist group, the National Islamic Front (NIF) or current NCP policy during this period is to make the south unstable by using a lot of tactics & strategies and not on reviving the fortunes of Southern Muslims & strengthening their position.
For our Southern Muslims, wellcome to your general conference & wish you successful and fruitful conference & remember that the issue of religion is not a problem in the South but be alert and aware not to be used by the enemy of our beloved LAND.
