Last Thursday, Dr. Riek Machar, GOSS Vice President and chairman of SPLM negotiating team retured to Juba without making any breakthrough in the talks over contentious issues on the referendum bill.

The two parties disagree over who can participate in the referendum: the National Congress Party says all southerners should participate, while the SPLM wants to limit it to the residents of southern Sudan only.

Also the required percentage for the result of the popular consultation: the NCP says separation should be valid with 75% “Yes” vote, while a simple majority of 51% is enough for Unity. The SPLM proposes a simple majority percentage for both choices.

The Deputy Chairman of the SPLM and the Vice President of the government o f Southern Sudan Dr. Machar arrived in Khartoum Sunday afternoon.

The Joint Executive Political Committee on the implementation of the 2005 peace agreement is co-chaired by Mr. Ali Osman Taha, the Vice-President of the Republic and head of NCP delegation and Dr. Riek Machar.

The office of the GOSS Vice-President said Taha and Machar are expected to meet privately before to co-chair the joint meeting.

Yasser Arman, head of the SPLM parliamentary group yesterday threatened that his movement would not participate in the next parliamentary session, if referendum bill and laws necessary for free and fair elections do not top the agenda of October parliamentary session.

Many Thanks Dr. Machar. You strategically cornered the NCP party on complicated Abyei issue & saved so many lives that could have been lost through your cool diplomacy & peacefull resolution of that case.

Now, nail the NCP on the very back-bone of the whole CPA, REFERENDUM & the issue that really matter to the South Sudanese, including those of Abyei & marginalised Black Africans in Sudan.

Your gifted mind & hands are blessed by the righteousness of our case & the God of humanity. May God Bless your hardwork! Don’t pay attention to those practicing Tribalism & jealousy behind you in Juba while you are negotiating the Referendum Law on their behalf in Khartoum. God’s watching.

Your knowledge is the power behind these painful negotiations. Cruise on behalf of South Sudanese wishes & Dreams….REFERENDUM!!!

    Independence Now!! South Sudan Oyee!!

Sorry, what does Private meeting between Ali Osman and Rick mean, Sorry, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha is going to deceive Rick Machar, package of MONEY is there ready for him. People, no thrust on this man call Rick Machar, could have been better if Pagan the Separatist is chosen for that referendum MEETING. Sure after their private bio-talk thing will be different concerning Percentages of Unity and Separation and who is to vote and who will not completely allowed even to come near Referendum ballot boxes.

well it seem to be too wier, because of the (NCP) rulling dectatorship and don’t want to let the south have self determination. I don’t agree with what they mention that 75% for seperation and 51% for unity. this is not fair for south to allow this to happen or obey what (NCP) want. we all southerners have right to tell the (NCP)get off ourside and let’s go I mention it again, we must know what is right for us I mean southern Sudan must seperate from the north, because this is a right choice for me and all of us. why do I said that,is because we had been suffer from this dectator rulling in a long time period and nothing change or nothing seem to benefit us and this will continue even if you choose the unity. brothers and sisters for our referendum vote latter on,don’t let yourself get con by the (NCP)from choosing the unity to me this is not the right way for us.the right way for us is to choose seperation to end the conflic and to end the dectatorship rulling in our country. don’t eat up yourselves let’s fight the Evil from the north,so we can remain with the unity of freedom in southern sudan.thank you my all southern sudanese.
