South Sudan discusses misunderstandings with Kenya

By James Gatdet Dak

September 5, 2009 (JUBA) – The Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) has discussed the misunderstandings between the semi-autonomous region and Kenya after occurrences of several deadly incidents at their common border.

In the Friday’s cabinet meeting chaired by the Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Council deliberated on the matter presented by the minister of Regional Cooperation, Oyai Deng Ajak, and resolved that there was an urgent need to amicably settle the issue with the sisterly country.

According to the official Spokesperson and minister of Information and Broadcasting, Paul Mayom Akech, a ministerial committee was to be established to quickly work out a best approach to discuss the matter with the Kenyan government.

It was not yet clear who would head the committee and its terms of reference.

Mayom assured that the Government of Southern Sudan works to promote good relations with all its neighboring countries.

In recent weeks, a number of cross-border raids involving the neighboring communities of the Sudanese Toposo and the Kenyan Turkana had been reported between Lokichokio and Nadapal.

Also another incident was reported this week at the Uganda-Sudan border where Sudanese and Ugandans clashed in Kejo-kejo County of Central Equatoria state.

Soldiers of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) are allegedly accused of involvement in both incidents against Kenya and Uganda, which the SPLA Spokesperson Major General Kuol Deim Kuol vehemently refuted.

Southern Sudan officials believe that there are invisible hands from enemies of peace trying to spoil the good relations between Southern Sudan and its neighboring countries.

“misunderstandings” come on, by all accounts the actions of the SPLA against Kenyan territory would be considered a declaration of war.

The obvious anarchy of this rag tag militia even during peace time cement the fact that they committed war crimes in the civil war.

The enermy of peace is playing a role in the South. We all knows that, NCP is playing cold war with us SPLA/M. Basier want to create misunderstanding of Southern Sudan and its neighbors.
NCP are dangerious, they give weak individuals money, food or guns to create problems.
I already said that there are people still in the bush who have no idea about SPLA/M, so the Arabs onsult them because they thinks that are food hunters.
    The only agent is NCP.
