Aligo declares his candidacy for central state governorship position

September 8, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – The Senior member of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the state of the Central Equatoria State, Eng. Alikaya Aligo Samson Lasu, today said has resolved to declare his intention to compete against General Clement Wani Konga as governor of Central Equatoria State.

During Sudan general elections next year, the state governors will be elected for the first time in the Sudanese history. In the past they were appointed by the president or the head of the executive power: Prime Minister during the democratic regimes.

Aligo who served as minister of physical infrastructure until last year in the state government, described himself as a committed, dedicated and member of Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM) since inception in1983.
He alleged to have actively participated in mobilization of the internal fronts at the universities and higher education institutions in Sudan in earlier days of the Movement’s establishment.

He said also extended these participations to Egypt, Lebanon and Uganda where SPLM Chapters established in the Diaspora while in exile during war.

In his intention of declaration narrated to five points, he said he is determined to bringing better living conditions to families and citizens central State, specially women and children.

He said would rejuvenate and consolidates spirit of love amongst indigenous communities of central Equatoria State through promotion of equality, justice and civility.

He further added determined to boldly carry out a tangible public service reforms and establish a credible civil service that will ensure good governance and deliverance of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) dividends.

As one of the Architects of Kejiko Development Workshop 1997, that ushered the establishment of the Civil Authority of New Sudan (CANS), I will diligently without giving rooms to tribal distracters participate in the development and consolidation of the SPLM visions to take towns to rural areas, he said.

He continued to say as fully aware of the plights of our people; “I will pursue effective implementation of economic recovery through agricultural and housing developments.”

These are the absolute determinants of our economy and progress; I am obliged to encourage rural urbanization policies with objective of intensifying their contribution to the process of building our economy and welfare, he out lined. He said this is necessary as we are facing unprecedented global financial recession and crises.

The Central Equatoria State cannot pretend to stand in akimbo as if we are an island that is not affected by the world financial downing. This requires courage to pursue a sound economic policies and strategies that will boost our contribution to the national and regional economic fabrics, he stated.

Looking at the important of education in the south, Aligo said he is also committed to pursuing a policy of ‘relevant and excellence education’ as well as technical and vocational training in the State if elected.

He also added he will facilitate private investments in education and make Central Equatoria state a competitive and conducive center for education in the region. Lastly and not the least adult education shall be made functional for inculcation and acquisitions of skills, in the state, he adds.

He also said one of reasons why he wants to be a Governor is to be governed and directed by the Party, to be a governor who is transparent and accountable to Party; to be a Governor that will enormously restore the dignity of the Party and rejuvenate its esteem supporters through ideal management and direction of State’s affairs;

He further said it in his intention of declaration to SPLM State Secretary General that his dream is to see the state of Central Equatoria develops through the Party and the Party develops through the State reciprocally.

Mr. Secretary and the esteem SPLM cadres in Central Equatoria Circuit, I am reiterating my inalienable position in the struggle for services deliverance, generation of employment, ensure a tangible contribution towards improvement of the national income and economic welfare in our State. Thus, I urge your office to promote party democracy and encourage healthy dialogue at all party venues and forums within our State, to ensure democratic growth and development, he appealed.

He concluded by saying he consciously and strongly believes in what he honestly articulated to achieve.

Declaring his candidacy, he said, “I Eng. Alikaya Aligo Samson Lasu, holder of SPLM card No. 044, Central Equatoria, member of the SPLM National Liberation Council (NLC), hereby, submitting my letter of declaration of intention to run for the Governorship of Central Equatoria State, 2010, on the Party ticket. I have taken an ‘ACTION’ that will enable me contribute more to socio-economic and political development in our State in particular and the South Sudan at large.”

    Who is Alikaya Aligo?
    The agent of NCP can not declare governorship over the committed SPLA leaders.
    Go back and begged Arab.
    If this messege is true, then why it was reported in Khartoum.
    This Arabs are playing dirty game to destabalize the ruling party in the South.

    Little dinka bull you sick in your mind just like un castrated bull. South Sudan has been talking of democracy, which democratic are we after? Do you ever know the principles of democracy that we are dreaming of in South? You can’t just criticize people because of their political choice. What has you corrupt party (SPLA) of dinkas has done since 2005? It’s the richness that your dinkas owning 5-20 houses in foreign countries or the killing that is happening in your jungle states? Go back to school and learn more.
