Juba dismisses allegations around returned of illegal arms to owners

September 15, 2009 (JUBA) — Residents of Juba town today dismissed reports that recently collected illegal weapons were immediately returned to owners the same day they were displayed to the public.

Mr. Stephen Tut, the editor in chief of the Southern Sudan Post magazine, said there is no such thing like return of collected illegal weapons to their owners instead the search operations are in progress.

My house and Juba University with its surrounding was that morning searched, he said arguing media not to associate themselves with those passing on such conflicting and contradictory statements to the recent operation to collect illegal arms.

I’m a member of press and considering stature of information, I don’t support covering such hurting stories, he adds.

The government is determined to ensuring that civilian inhabited towns are free from possessing arms threats.

This is why it was started in Juba, the heart of Southern Sudan and it is expected to be carried out in all the ten states as declared by President of the government of Southern Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday, he adds.

Tut also called on citizens to criticize government of Southern Sudan when and where necessary. He further concluded that criticism is good but it has to be objective, balanced and worth learning than detrimental and/or full of personal attacks to loose meaning of objective criticism,
