Northern Bahr el Ghazal State gets new deputy governor

September 21, 2009 (JUBA) — The Government of Southern Sudan President, General Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Saturday 19, has issued a presidential decree appointing Mrs. Josephine Lado Moses as Deputy governor in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State replacing Brigadier Arkengelo Athian Teng Angok.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune by phone from Aweil following his relieve, Brigadier Angok welcomed the appointment of Mrs Lado and renewed his loyalty to entire Northern Bhar el Ghazal citizens and SPLM “as my party.”

He further described as “normal” the decision of southern Sudan leader adding “it does not cause or create conflict among members unless done with bad intention.” He further stressed that Josephine “is well placed and would love working closely with her should there be any need for administrative assistance.”

On her part, the new deputy governor, acknowledged reception given to her by many even before taking office. “The first person to call was comrade Arkengelo to congratulate me upon appointment as his successor;” she said.

“The likes of Arkengelo are rarely found,” Lado added.

“In other places, successors and forerunners always engage in battle of misunderstanding to create social havoc”

Josephine Lado Moses is a wife to Ajal Deng Gai, an advisor at the Sudanese Presidency on judicial affairs in Khartoum.

The husband has held many gubernatorial and ministerial positions in previous Sudanese governments.

However, Josephine remained a civil servant and a house wife till appointed in 2005 as member of the South Sudan Legislative Assembly in Juba representing 25% women share stipulated in the CPA.

Although her appointment is criticized by her constituents, “she is expected to accept gubernatorial challenges as she would sometime remain in the state as acting governor when governor travel out for either official or private visits,” commented a state official who requested not to named.

    Well done. Athian has failed the people of Nothern Bahr el Ghazal State in the last census and as such he has to go for ever.

    However, Josephine Lado should not be a wife of a big person in GOSS as some have already claimed. That means corruption because seats should not only be confined to families of the already known corrupt leaders in GOSS.

    I hope Athian soon join the SPLA and be deployed in the LRA affected areas where he will not be able to extend his corrupt fingers into state leadership as he did during census when he misused public money.

    let kiir kept going doing a mess in north bahar el gahzal,he will pay price when aweil people pull back thier support.he had already compensated predator molong awan with whole state and now he still add incompete leader.look of what ‘s going on between speaker and mps,i’m very sure the speaker will speakout soon when he became a target than a main corruptness.
