Sudan welcomes Moscow international meeting on Darfur

September 25, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese government welcomed Russian invitation to hold an international meeting in Moscow to discuss Darfur conflict and to develop ideas and proposals on peace in the restive province.

Russian president’s envoy for Sudan announced from Moscow earlier this month the date of a meeting to discuss the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and Darfur crisis. It will take place in the Russian capital on October 6-7.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mutrif Siddiq confirmed that the Russian envoy Mikhail Margelov is working to hold the next month meeting. He further pointed out that its agenda is limited to stress the need for a swift peace in Darfur and studying different solutions for the conflict.

“The meetings in Russia will be in the form of a workshop and not an international conference as rumored in the media,” he further added.

In a statements published by the Russian Itar-Tass on September 8, Margelov said the meeting would involve politicians, scientists and lawyers to make an extensive expertise, “to help the conflicting sides look at the events more objectively and find ways for reconciliation.”

He further said Moscow will present “a friendly and creative ground to those who are practically engaged in pacifying the warring sides and those who are interested in general problems of conflictology.”

Mutrif said the Sudanese delegation would be headed by Presidential Adviser Ghazi Salah Al-Deen who is in charge of Darfur dossier.

He also expected that the joint mediator Djibril Bassole and some of the parties to the Arab initiative would attend the meeting also.

Margelov had said envoys for Sudan from the United Nations, the European Union, China, the Netherlands, the USA, Finland and Sweden as well as the African Union, the League of Arab States, international humanitarian organizations, rectors of higher educational establishments and research institutes have already confirmed their participation.

Sudan welcomes Moscow international meeting on Darfur
The NCP in fact lost the way long ago. If anyone on a street said I dreamed that I have resolved Darfur problem, they immediately respond: Yes we support you. What Russia could do for people of Darfur and South of Sudan, when every single bomb bullets that killed a child or a woman was brought from Russia?

Russians and Chinese have no any solution for international crisis but wait others to propose and they to oppose, what a pity?

Sudan welcomes Moscow international meeting on Darfur
This reads very important international meeting.
But WHO WILL HEAD THE AFRICAN UNION in the Moscow international meeting on Darfur?

This question must not be ignored by the Darfuris and southern
    Sudanese.

Me personally,do not trust over 80% of these international communities invited to this contraversal meeting. Perhaps some
dignitaries from the marginalized parts of Sudan be involved too, especially Darfur and South Sudan
