Sudanese opposition joins SPLM in Juba to discuss national issues

September 25, 2009 (JUBA) — Opposition parties will start a five day meeting in Juba hosted by the southern Sudan ruling party Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) amid criticism from it peace partner the National Congress Party (NCP) who boycott the meeting.

Juba conference which had been adjourned several times will begin on Saturday September 26, and concludes on Wednesday September 30. SPLM leader Salva Kiir Mayadrit who is the First Vice-President and President of Southern Sudan Government will deliver a speech on the opening session tomorrow.

The delegates will discuss national issues, as upcoming elections and referendum on self-determination, impeding the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in 2005.

“As a party leading democratic transformation in the country, the SPLM is organizing an all political parties Conference under the theme: (Towards the Full Implementation of the CPA and Democratic Transformation of Sudan),” said comrade Bol Makueng, SPLM Secretary for Information, Southern Sector.

Sudan’s former Prime Minister Sadiq Al-Mahdi and the former mentor President Omer Al-bashir, Hassan Al-Turabi as well as Mohamed Ibrahim Nugud, the leader of the Communist Party will be among the attendance. Also representatives of some 20 political parties will take part.

Yesterday, a number of political parties led by the dominant party, NCP, announced their boycott to the meeting. They based their decision on two demands previously formulated by the dominant party on the need to invite all the registered political parties and to involve them in the preparation of the conference.

The meeting is seen by the ruling party as an attempt by the SPLM to establish a new political alliance with the opposition parties before the upcoming elections next year. The NCP sought to have SPLM support for the candidacy of President Al-Bashir for the presidency.

Speaking to reporters in Juba Malik Aggar, SPLM deputy chairman said this conference does not aim to establish a political alliance stressing that its main purpose is to reach consensus on important national issues.

I think this the last chance for you northern political parties, either you advice your brothers in NCP to be real Sudanese or you will loose all other parts of Sudan and remain with Shandi and Khartoum

Bravo SPLM. The party should play the role of a conscious referee in the discussions of such important national issues. Let the conference serve as a tool for pressure on the notorious and dismissive NCP.

Well’ everyone in Sudan is aware that this is the over becoming of Basire regime. It is real National dialogue between oppostions parties but who will be the chairman of these dialogue since those oppositons play their parts in civil war in South.

However, the issue would be beneficials to fews but for some farcical leaders like Dr. LAm Akol who is the leader of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for Democratic change will not be happy. Dr. Lam Akol confused all the sudanese people of talking democracy in the country.

There is political independent and party indepenent. otherwise what Dr Akol talk about is not the democracy but political interest to gain personal interest. Dr.Akol is a political comutetor whereas a political harlot because no no political in Sudan he himself never serve.

Moreover, Dr. Akol is just a triator among Sudanese, let the truth be said, this little foreheaded fish of Dr. Akol can not lead marginalised people of Souhtern Sudsn, because that is political independent and not a democracy as people talk about. Moreso, Dr. Akol’s democracy is form in wrrong time and in wrong place otherwise what people these opposition parties are doing is the real foundation of democracy in the Country.

Late Dr. Garang love sudanese people
    Long live SPLM
    Long live Southerners
Long Live the referendum of Southern Sudan

This is quite interesting. With SPLM gaining ground and second politically party is Sudan, you can see how northerners are now running after the SPLM. This are the same Arabs who were standing against us during the war and now they are the same Arabs flying to South every single week trying to be nice and giving the southerners their fake support.
I know this is not the right time to hate your enemy. I have no trust at all when coming to these Arabs. Not all of them a bad but to me, “A good Arab is a dead”
They have no reason to be coming to Juba every week . To our Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar, I hope you don’t go back and betray your people again since you are the lead in all the talks that are taking place between these opposition parties. I would like to see that you remain firm to your words and to the people of Southern Sudan.

who old Southern sudanese that Mhadi and Hassan T parties are oppositing Bashir, they are just come to Juba conference as join opposition for political encouragement but no sooner than later when they will wage up their tails and go back to Bashir. I couldn’t belief my eyes and ears about. There you with them knowing that UMMa is Islamic traditional party since and PCP of Hassan T is the same as UmMA because Hassan is Sudan Islamic secretary and as well as arab league, so where do you think Southern Sudanese these people will rebel against their own people, pure lies and you too you know them what they are since of SPLA/M 1983. You know what Saqi mhadi played and as well as Hassan t. Please you don’t let bulshit guys blind our eyes again.

For me, I perfer Joseph Wani Igga to be Vice president if not at all president of Southern Sudan to others because he is a man of pure dedication for Southern Sudan rights. It was him who served the existing SPLA/M during the time of 1990s when those of Riek, Karembino kunyin Bol, William Nyoun Bany and others gone. It was him who control the hearts of some Equartoriain to remain clam otherwise if he could have gone like those guys then This SPLM/A wouldn’t be sound like this today because Equatoria was remain as SPLM’A based by then, so he deserved to be vice or president of Southern Sudan. He was so commited for Southern Sudan rights and I will remain always love his dedication or commitment for my rights as southerner rather than those who be bought tomorrow and return their backs to me.
I wish him to chair the chairmanship of this conference on Southern Sudanese behalf rather than those confuse.com people.
