SPLM’s Itto downplay polemic over plagiarism

October 4, 2009 (JUBA) — The SPLM Southern Sector Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Anne Itto, has declined to comment on the identical SPLM-DC article published in her name saying use of identical words should not create media confrontation.

The SPLM-DC accused the SPLM of plagiarism saying an article written by one of its senior officials and published in Sudan Vision was reprinted by the Juba Post two weeks later with the name of the deputy secretary general for southern Sudan as author.

“The publication of article with similarities should not generate hateful talk and/or bad mouthing, she said adding have had similar conferences conducted at different times and all were almost chaired by her in the region.

“We have in the recent past conducted lots of political workshops and conferences and last one with similar words was in August 2009;” she said reiterating that this should not provoke a fight in the media.

Dr. Itto further said would also consider consulting SPLM southern sector office for information and communications to verify what exactly happened. “But I am sure it is just publication of similarities in words,” she added.

The SPLM deputy secretary general also requested SPLM office for information and communications not to issue similar statement as rejoinder to SPLM-DC.

This comes after SPLM-DC Secretary General, Eng. Charles B. Kisanga, complained against SPLM over publication of an identical article by the Juba Post newspaper, issue 1st October to 05 October 2009 in local news page 13.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune by telephone today the SPLM-DC Secretary General, Eng. Charles B. Kisanga reiterated his accusations saying “this article is ours. The published event was our recent convention conducted at Friendship hall in Khartoum.”

Eng. Kisanga said they were surprised to see the article reprinted with the name of Dr. Itto adding that all the words of the article are the same

“I am telling you, she or someone from her office has just copied the whole title and almost all the words of the article and substitute our (SPLM-DC) words with their words (SPLM) and titled it with slightest different to suit their intended interest,” he further said.

Asked what was the title of their article, he said, the title of our previous article was entitled “The Highlights of the founding National Delegates Congress and Future Prospects ”

“However, the SPLM copied and pasted it with their title entitled ‘SPLM National Founding Future Prospects’ cutting away the congress,” he said.

SPLM-DC is a Lam Akol and Riak Machar party and they will use the same procedures like they did in 1991 to distroy CPA. So, Anne Itto can be use like William Nyuon Beny by those two criminals.

What did you expect from a criminal organization that is full of Dinka looters who like to steal. They know the SPLM-DC is a serious challenge to their corrupt tyrannical rule and so they resort to stealing their work to survive politically.

    Wow!

This is an insult to SPLM party. The SPLM Secretariat, Information and Communications department should not foolishly show their incompetence like that by stealing good thought out articles from the SPLM-DC. Does this mean that the SPLM Secretariat has run out of ideas and has to copy what SPLM-DC produces? Shame!
