Salva Kiir condemns rumors of his alleged death

October 9, 2009 (JUBA) – The First Vice President of Sudan and President of the semi-autonomous Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, condemned the Thursday’s circulated rumors of his alleged death, saying it was concocted by the enemies of peace who intended to spark violence between Southerners and Northerners in the country.

Kiir who returned to Juba on Friday after two days visit to the Ugandan capital, Kampala, said he discussed a number of bilateral issues with the Ugandan President.

He said his mission to Kampala was to discuss with President Yoweri Museveni issues of trade between the two sisterly neighboring countries.

The President of Southern Sudan Government said he also discussed with Museveni the border conflict between the Kuku tribe in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria state and the Madi tribe of Moyo along their common border.

His delegation included Dr. Barnaba Marial, GOSS minister of commerce and industry, and Gier Chuang, southern Sudan interior minister

He further added that the two leaders also discussed similar tribal incidents along the Ugandan border with Eastern Equatoria state and how to amicably resolve such border disputes.

These wild rumors were created by those who wanted Southerners to get angry and resort to violence against Northerners and vice versa, Kiir explained, adding that the rumor-mongers intended to create a situation like that of 2005 after the death of Dr. John Garang de Mabior.

“I have now come back to Juba after conducting my official duty [in Kampala]. You have seen me. There is nothing that had happened,” Kiir assured the public.

The rumors quickly spread that President Salva Kiir died in the morning hours of Thursday, which almost caused panic in the semi-autonomous region’s capital.

However, the Vice President of the Government of Southern Sudan and Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, quickly refuted the rumors.

Machar also said the false rumors were the work of the enemies of peace in the country, vowing that the sources of such rumors must be investigated.

Kiir warned the Sudanese people to refrain from creating and spreading rumors.

Salva Kiir condemns rumors of his alleged death
Dear readers of the South Sudan,

It is good that these rumours are lies by the coward people but you all have to remember this says. That’s there is no smoking sign without the fire burning somewhere. What I mean by this, there may be a plan somewhere within in the Sudan. If you are all wise enough than find out why Ali Tatha second vice president of the Sudan is now to be remove out from the party of NCP? Al Bashire has his name in the agenda to remove replace him within his party? How many times Ali and Rick had made discussions for this year’s alone and nothing had been achieved so far as we all know?

In case of Mr. Dot face Matip Nhail. He has very simple history to tell. Martip before he joined the movement he was working in village with chief of Nuer Bull as a bodyguard later he decided to join the movement of SPLA. Look what he did in 1991 with Riak. Martip break away from Riak militias and inform his own militias which was Nuer Bull alone to fight with SPLA against the South. One day his own chief from Nuer Bull community committed himself and went to Martip to have meditation with him to advice him with simple questions as a Bull leader. His simple question was how come you break away from the SPLA and inform your own militias which are Nuer Bull alone to fight with the whole South. He become mad and gave only two hours to the chief of warning him that don’t you think that I am not the same Martip your former police man who use to work for you? He has orders his militia’s immediately to kill his own chief of Nuer Bull. Please dear readers when it comes to the leadership for Nuer people be careful and don’t trust them at. These people are really desperate for the leadership not for our interest for the South.
    SPLA/M oyee… and South oyee…

Thanks to Salva Kiir for refuting this ugly concotted conspiracy by the enemies of peace against the south.

Our aims as south sudanese should be to wrap up our independence by 2011. It would be tough, but the likely losers from a change of power in sudan may not want to cope with the aftermath of post-referendum crisis that engulfs sudan as whole if they boycott or rigg the referendum illegally.

Optimistically, Dr. Riek Machar Teny has a good chance of winning election to be a president in South Sudan. Dr. Riek’s policies & governance would be based on equal treatment of all south sudanese. No one will be under-represnted or over-represented in proportion to their share of national cake or politics among south sudanese. He should never evaluate his chance of political survival rather pessimisticaly in south sudan.

Please respect the dignity of south sudanese including your very name, junub! Are you Junub for nothing? South sudanese would correct their leader, Salva Kiir alive, including confronting him if needs be; but not eliminating him through voilence means.

Dr. Riek will be your president through constitutional process or election. When that time comes, you have a right to fight his government through legal or illegal means whatever you choose. For now, quit your immature politics of death wishing death to Salva Kiir & the rest of our leaders.

Being a president is not entittlement. No one is entitle to be president. People have to work so hard to earn it through democratic process. Dr. Riek will be a democratic president as he is well known to be a democratic person if he wins the presidential election.

    That is good

Actually I am bothered and pestered by the foolish ignorant folks who tend to write all a lot of garbage on this website. This rumors was purely fabricated and defused by northerners who wanted to anger southerners to cause problems as Kiir just stated.

But it is kind of disturbing if people like the above writer dare to point his figure towards certain leaders in the south, this is a very low scale thinking because I don’t think there is anyone who want to eliminate Kiir through death.

Kiir is our hero and we can only remove him from power peacefully if we concluded that his leadership don’t favor us.

Please be careful, don’t just insult our leaders without any evidents.

    God bless

The writer is always peace activist.

    Good news to hear:

It is good to hear that resulted in rumors as president himself step up on media to condemn the candid and to assure the puplic that he was still alive during his returned from Ugandan capital Kampala after accompishment of his mission. We know that the enemies of peace in Sudan are always practice these sort of fabrications in order to jeapodize the security situation in the country, but also need to be carefully scrutinized as that sometime could result in the same deserved fall.

Before the death of Dr.Garang, same candid was being dissiminated but eventually it really resulted as assumed. Therefore, the security personel must take drastic security measures to ensure that the situation is calm and safe for our leaders from now on.

Salva Kiir condemns rumors of his alleged death
    Dear readers,

Good news that Salva Kiir has declared his being alive. The news was scary and caused panic among some quarters. Salva should remain alive and this is the wish of every peace-loving Southerner. Being an incompetent leader is not a crime punishable by death, but can be corrected through democratic means.

Well, as Salva himself said he suspected the Arabs to be behind the rumors to cause chaos like that of 2005. But let them be rest assured that it could be more violence than that of late Dr. John Garang which was not widespread. This can immediately put the CPA to complete rest and disintegrate the North and South.

My worry is that the Arabs now know that there are those who would rush to point fingers at others in the South. This is a dangerous signal that gives the Northerners a room to maneuver their evil plans.

Salva Kiir condemns rumors of his alleged death
From tracing the source of rumors for death of Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir; it is now suspected that it came from the security agents of Salva Kiir himself. They were afraid that Juba is not in a good mood because of the quarrel between the deputy C-in-C of SPLA Paulino Matip and governor Taban Deng. They wanted to test whether there are some people within the SPLA inside Juba who have ill intention of overthrowing Kiir in his absence because he supports governor Taban of Unity State.

But thank God, it has been revealed now that nobody among the Southerners is wishing Kiir death or military coup even if he has proven himself an incompetent leader. Peaceful democracy will judge him after the elections, and thus there is no need for a hurry to stage a coup against Kiir.

The Jellaba might have nothing to do with this rumors because they are happy with the current messy and bad leadership of Dr. Kiir Mayardit as they think that they are right in their claims that Southerners cannot run government business as Northerners do. The Northern elites think that their claim has been proven by Kiir’s style of leadership, which is totally opposit to that of Dr. John Garang de Mabior. But let them wait a moment; the history will prove them wrong in near future.

Dear rumors mongers, do you think that Kiir will die by rumors, Kiir dedicaed his heart to Southern Sudan to gets its position and that position has been handled to him by God to do it on half of Southerners and that was why Kiir fell off and still survived from an areoplane crashed. So, Kiir will death through his natural death but not rumors.
Keep making your rumors and nothing will happen. Southern Sudanese will remove Kiir alive from the power if he doesn’t works well on their interest but not to curse him to death.

    Thanks>
