Canada supplies armuored vehicles to Darfur peacekeepers
October 21, 2009 (LONDON) — As part of its efforts to strengthening UNAMID’s capacity, Canada is providing 24 armoured vehicles to African troops participating in the hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur.
Canada has longstanding in the support of the peacekeepers working in the restive region of Darfur. In 2005 Ottawa provided some 105 armoured vehicles and personal protective equipment in support of the efforts of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) to bring peace and stability to the Darfur region.
Last week, six new armoured personnel carriers arrived in the Senegalese capital Dakar as part of Canada’s contribution to the police units provided to UNAMID by African countries. With this second batch of vehicles Senegal has now received 12 APCs, and Burkina Faso and Uganda will also receive six each.
Along with the 24 vehicles, Canadian government is also providing equipment and basic operator and maintenance training as part of a package valued at over $35 million.
This support to UNAMID peacekeepers is part of Canada’s contributions to international efforts to bring peace in Darfur, said the Canadian foreign minister Lawrence Cannon.
“Canada is committed to strengthening UNAMID’s capacity by investing in security, diplomacy and aid initiatives, and to playing a leadership role in supporting international efforts to establish sustainable peace and long-term stability in Darfur and all of Sudan.”

This so called Un peacekeepers and their masters in america thinks they can fool us muslims all the times,but they do not know that jihad and killing of non muslims is our core foundation of islam as per the holy book.We do not want any outside interfers in our affairs,Darfur issue is internal Sudanese affairs.We will defend our land with our last blood and we are promised heaven by allahs prophet Mohammed (feaces be upon his name).
