Sudan president forms committee to study Mbeki report

October 25, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir ordered the formation of a committee to review the findings of the African Union Panel on Darfur (AUPD), state agency reported.

Sudan official news agency (SUNA) said that the committee will be headed by 2nd Vice President Ali Osman Taha.

A statement carried out by SUNA said the government “expressed deep gratitude” for the work of the panel lauding the tours it made during the course of its work.

The commission will finalize the government’s response and convey it at the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council session that will be held in Abuja, Nigeria next week.

Sudan’s delegation will be headed by Taha instead of Bashir, who has an outstanding arrest warrant for him by the International Criminal Court (ICC), amid controversy on whether Nigeria, a signatory to the ICC treaty, should arrest him.

A source in the Nigerian government told Agence France Presse (AFP) this week that Bashir is “still considering the invitation, afraid we may turn him in, which will not happen”.

“Hand him over to who when he is invited by the AU?” he added.

The invitation by extended by Nigeria to Bashir caused outcry by rights groups internally and externally.

In an open letter to Umaru Yar’Adua, Nigeria’s president, four national non-governmental organizations responded to Beshir’s invitation to attend the African Union meeting.

“We are very concerned that despite Nigeria’s international legal obligations including under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which Nigeria has ratified, your government has invited President al-Bashir who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

The NGOs, supported by international human rights organizations including Amnesty, added that given Nigeria’s recent election to the UN Security Council it has an even bigger “responsibility” and “obligation” to deny a safe haven to the Sudanese president.

An unnamed Sudanese presidential source speaking to the London based Al-Hayat newspaper said that Bashir stayed away “not out of fear that Bashir would be arrested but out of [our] evaluation”.

Since the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Bashir last March, he has been to seven countries – Eritrea, Egypt, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe — none of which are signatories to the ICC treaty.

Last month Al-Bashir’s adviser Ghazi Salah Al-Deen told Associated Press in an interview that the ICC arrest warrant forced his boss to limit his movements abroad.

Though you form your fake committee to study what has been prepared by AU still the chain of ICC cannot heal out on your neck. The only way out for you is to find yourself a lawyer and you turn up yourself to ICC such that your problem is solve and give chance to other people to lead Sudan to the future good style. You are not the only capable leader in Sudan there are those whom are beyond you interm of leadership. Your being in power now still increasing the problem on you. Better to chose one either to accept the arrestment or to do whatever you think is possible.

    Hassan Omar al Bashir.

Skiptical is not the solution for genocide in Darfurian case. Others Sudanse people must also tell Omar al Bashir that, the only way to end this case is to turn himself to the ICC Judges but he fail to do so will result in a very big punishment to him and his government of Sudan.

Fomsing committee to make another study from what the former president of South Africa Mbeki had did it is not the answer to make indictment go a way as we Sudanese people knowing from the beginning indictment that, this Military dictatorship Omar al Bashir had miss a good chance to stand up and tell the whole world what happen in Sudan under his rule and why he think he is not guilty even though 98% Sudanese citizens believes strongly that, the Bashir’s government was the really caused for such killing in Darfurian. 90% in the world viewpoint do thinks that, Hassan Omar al Bashir is guilty by all mean and it is true that, Omar al Bashir must be brought in to justice if there is a rule of International law and he has to accepted but he has refused to ICC Judges not to shown them good respect which meant Omar al Bashir need to see something badly rather than accepted things by peaceful manner.

I think this is Omer Bashirs last chance here to survive justice, he take it or leave it and face the full justice from ICC without delay.

Suddenly all the animals and birds came close to him and said ‘man, why do you look so sad, ask of us anything and we will give you’

Then the man said to them i want to know the secrets of the earth, then the serpent said, ‘ i would show you the secrets of the earth’. Then the man said, i want to have good sight, the the eagle said, ‘ i would give you good sight’ then the man said i want to be strong, then the jaguare said, i would make you strong and so it went with all the animals. then the dove, said now you have had more than all of us and see you would now be happy. But the owl said “No” i saw a hole in a man deep like a hunger, that is what makes him sad, that is what makes him take and he would continue to take more and more untill the whole world says there is nothing left. Would Bashir give up himself to ICC when there is more to take and when there is a hole in him?
