Reached by Sudan Tribune for an update on the situation, UNAMID spokesperson Noureddine Mezni said that on October 29 , a Government of Sudan (GoS) delegation and an Sudan Liberation Army (SLA/M) delegation held a meeting with Umdahs (chiefs) and tribal leaders at a UNAMID location in Shangil Tobaya.

“The aim of the meeting was to assess the security situation in the area with a view to find a lasting solution to the conflict. The meeting discussed the contending issues at length and agreed to constitute a joint task force to monitor the conflict areas” Mezni said.

He said that the parties at the meeting agreed to establish a joint task force to monitor the security situation in the area; local and tribal leaders should exert full control on their subjects; rule of law and punishment shall apply against any breach of the law.

Should Darfuri call out for Referendum 2011?

I don’t think any peoples of Darfur is not bold enough to proclaim Independence.

Eventually, these are the peoples depends on the governments of Khartoum.

Since tribal war has been errupted, the Darfur can’t pointing out whole problems came from Khartoum, but it’s their own situated problems.

The UNAMID presence won’t help any Darfuri anyways, but it is just wasting a time and money…

So, go with Referendum 2011 for Darfur before it is too late.
