Sudan describes US as lacking courage in its policy

November 2, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – The United does not have the courage to take bold steps in its relationship with Sudan, a senior Sudanese official said.

The Sudanese presidential adviser Ghazi Salah Al-Deen Al-Attabani told the pro-government Al-Rayaam newspaper that he was not surprised by the new announced US plan toward his country describing it as “tactical” or “retail selling”.

Al-Attabani expressed doubts that Washington will lift economic sanctions or remove Sudan from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

Last month, the Obama administration drafted a new strategy for Sudan that includes a mix of “incentives and pressures” dependent on specific benchmarks.

However, the Sudanese official rejected the term “incentives” saying it is an “arrogant term” adding that Khartoum is talking about rights not incentives.

He added that the US is used to “taking and not giving” describing its attitude as that of a “selfish empire”.

Al-Attabani hailed the US special envoy General Scott Gration describing him as someone who is strives to be genuine “within the limitations of the US role”.

Gration is currently in Sudan for talks on the faltering implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), Darfur crisis and democratic transformation.

Of course, they will not release santions and policy is a policy whose aim is to lead them to resources…Why must they have resources in Sudan, to control economy, .They will do this by making Sudan seem like an enemy in their own media and the world. So the government should advise the public to start producing enough food and work hard to bring in other countries that are ready to invest, Japan is a very good country, the idea people is to keep Sudan poor and blame it on black man stupidity!!!!.If they want to trade, then they will release santions!!!..our people have no jobs but they think that if government was good, they would have better life, well, if they were working they would have better life! That mean better economy!!…
