South Sudan public holiday only for constitutional post holders -minister

November 10, 2009 (JUBA) – The minister for cabinet affairs in the Government of Southern Sudan, Dr. Luka Tombekana Monoja on Tuesday said the seven days public holiday ordered by President Salva Kiir Mayardit targets only constitutional post holders in the region.

In a broadcasted statement on both Southern Sudan TV and Radio, Dr. Monoja apologized for the error in the text of the President’s order which by mistake included civil servants.

The office of the President on Saturday issued an order declaring a seven-day public holiday beginning from Wednesday, 11th November running through 17th November.

The text which was availed to the press and broadcasted on both TV and radio included the civil servants in the seven days long holiday.

Dr. Monoja said civil servants would only have their one day public holiday on Wednesday 11th November and resume work on Thursday, 12th November.

He further explained that all constitutional post holders will continue with the holiday until 17th November.

Southern Sudan is hit by very low voter registration turnout as the region prepares for its first post-war general elections due in six months.

Officials say some of the registration centers in the region have remained almost empty since 1st November while others with the maximum of less than a hundred voters to register per day.

The registration for the Sudan’s upcoming April 2010 general elections began on November 1 and scheduled to end on November 30 all over the country and in some other selected countries around the world.

The order that enables constitutional post holders to mobilize potential voters aims to reverse the low voter registration turnout which officials describe as “serious”.

Away with you people, Kiir has violated human rights in many ways, he order arrest of people for their political choice eg in eastern Equatoria, he oragnise murder of people for their political choice eg in western Equatoria with our sister in Aug. Kiir has supply Kuol with arms in order to organise his people to kill mundari, Kiir mis uses $200m, Kiir is a big dictator in South, he lies more than everyone else, In Egypt he talk of this and that. Kiir and Kuol are the problems in the activities of South Sudan that brings peace and unity in South. SSTV is partner of Kiir, it convince people with fakes, recording things in Torit and presenting as live broadcasting information. All government and its activities are fake because 200 fakes names in Kuol pay slip could be questioned in Assembly and broad day light.

The incompetance of this government is sickening and embarrassing! There can be NO excuses for such wretched impotence. It is NOT a minor mistake- it is of tremendous importance, with potentially comprehensive consequences.

We are all witness to an unjustifiable and care-free response to the betrayal of this government, in stealing the billions of OUR dollars.

The incompetance, corruption, nepotism, tribalism and wretched weakness of this government cannot and should NOT be justified! It has belittled our struggle and trivialized the sacrifices and blood of OUR people who layed down their lives for our liberty.

It has usurped resources meant for our children, it has denied our war time heroes the awards they deserve-RESPECT and DIGNITY! Its officials have acquired homes in foreign lands from OUR wealth, and have deprived an entire Nation to be of its dignity, in its failure to ensure food-security. We are now known internationally as a nation of beggars.

The incompetance seems to be shielded by notions of tribal kinship with these men… these men with their mansions and Swiss bank accounts DO NOT care about you.. if they did, there would be roads, schools, clinics and hospitals in your area, but needless to say…..

Is this what we fought for? Did our multitude of young men stand firm in the face of injustice, cruelty and inequality, so that corrupt old-men can amass wealth ILLEGALLY?

Those who unconditionally support this incompetant government have a question they should answer: What is more important?

Our struggle for liberty and equality and the young men who selflessly sacrificed their lives.. OR, these old men who have squandered 8 billion dollars of OUR wealth?

    Dear Readers

    Greetings

I wrote many posts commenting on various news on this site. I am also keeping an eye on the posts raining on the news. But, I am becoming frustrated by most participants. One can read for many calling others names, there are still many who feed tribalism. Many more are just ignorant and childish. This forum proves that we southerners are really a kind of seriously backward people. Imagine this is happening from those who can read and write or the so called half-educated. I prefer to call them “The South Demolishers”.

This forum is supposed to be a board where good ideas, positive critique, suggestions and reform thoughts should breed. I cannot find a good reason for this bad performance. Tribalism, impolite language, off-the-point discussion and hatred are highly pronounced here. With this kind of behavior and spirit, the HOPE of South Sudan is just shattered. So please, don’t participate if you don’t have something constructive to say. Just read and learn and let those who can enrich the forum make their posts. If you guys are true Southerners you must be rational, educated, disciplined and well-behaved.

No sane person would accept SPLM/A or the GoSS mistakes. This one by Mr. President reflects many things that we Southerners are not hoping to hear. SPLM/A has – so far – failed to mobilize educated and experienced people to assume leadership responsibilities in the GoSS. This happens due to many reasons I am not discussing now, but, SPLM has to change its current totalitarianism rule and bring in a healthy atmosphere for those who are qualified to work in all fields of government, political arena, civil society organizations etc. It is evident that the South is not united or with one vision. I hope it is not too late for the SPLM/A to act positively.

Mobilizing our people for registration for the upcoming elections is important, but that requires clear vision and a lot of good-will, determination, preparations, infrastructure, finance and public moblilization. SPLM/A has failed in all this since the departure of our great leader Dr. Garang. Let the Southerners now start a South-South Dialogue to solve all the problems that will no doubt ruin everything.

Finally, all Southerners need to unite first and work together. No one should be left behind or singled out. Tribalism must retreat and be defeated. A lot needs to be done by ALL to realize the common goal – the VISION.. What a challenge!

    O ye Southerners Unite!

    Sincerely yours,

    Adam Milawaki, Kansas

    Dear brothers,

    What goes up comes down!

We have to promote peace in Southern Sudan instead of conflict among ourselves. If you have a problem with me,come to me and we discuss it face to face instead of mobilizing people against each other for your own interest. The real citizens will get me right but he who is a foreigners on this website will be against my beautiful comment.

Anyway,my yes does not change to No but there are some exceptions sometimes .I have change for time being but my name will not and will never ever change.Let’s gather together and we shall defeat the enemy of Southern Sudan.

To those who criticised Southern Sudan goverment’
I understand that whoever is hiding behind walls can say anything they like on this website, but believe me folks whatever you guys think or say agains this movement will not make any different or stop this liberation Dr.Salva Kiir said in his speech couple years ago during memorial of our late chairman DR.J.de G that SPLA is like A Car without a revers gear, what do you guys think it’s means let me tell you it’s mean we’re unstopable movement no matter what, and that’s the attitued I’m ddown with, so you guys need to relax your big mouths and if you’re from the southern Sudan get your black ass down to Juba and do something yourself this goverment is struggling hard to bring freedom and you guys are sitting there with your bullshit nonsenes.
Yes in S Sudan we have freedom of speech but not rubbish speeches and lies or blaming games huh is that how you gonna help SPLA we all have the chances to make a different but I don’t think we’ll make it this way I’m saying these words to young S Sudanes around the world let me clear this out to you mother fuckers.
when it’s comes to mistake that has been commeted by our politiction I think that mistake is ours together we should find a solution for it, who in the world has never made a mistake we all did, but that it shouldn’t be a reason to a criticism.
brothers my point is; we don’t need all these rubbish thinking all we want is togethernes our problems started years ago and we’re almost there to the distenation point, so new Sudan should come with generation who dosen’t recognised tribalism and racesim that’s exist among ourselves these are our main issuse ever since which the enemy don’t want us to let go of it, they just want us to have clashes between us all the time while they sit there watching us fighting and they lough at us we’re helping them increased our death rate . think about folks if I’m lying, those politcions you think they’re doing bad they’ll not last forever in thier cuurent position everyone has his turn,so if you’re studing in Sudan or overseas please do finish that study we need it and if you’re working in or overseas support your community
At the moment New sudan is inneed of educators to educate uneducated children and those who lives overseas come home bring that modernization with you let us change at once brothers, let us be one strong nation before we lose hope on everything look around the world who’s not better than us while we aware of it very well that we’re hundereds years behind.
this is the time brothers for change,
in adition our opponents are not just fightingus with guns they’re using every single alternatives to defeat us while we’re here wasting our time blaming ourselves, let us leave our deffierences behind and let concentrate on our counrty’s future and see the enemy with our all eyes then later we’ll resolves our local issues for those who’re busy doing corruption the anti corruption laws in Sudan will bring those mother fuckers to the table and interagate them about thier wealth one day, we all know that some of our leaders are building houses abroad living fantasy life style but believe me, they can ran but they can’t hide there will be an accountablity folks if they die thier children will pay every single $pound back to the society believe it or not, but that’s isn’t the currnet issue now.
if you’re interseted in the politice be a man go to sudan and share your good ideas with your people anyone can hear you if what you say is loud enough and convient why not you can be our next leader.
this massege is meant to the peopole of Southern Sudan in general.
if you don’t like it comment on it, why not let me know
    cheers.
